PSR-E Series / Re: Registrations for PSR-E433

Guess I should explain better.
I'm after some completed registrations that members have shared before..eg..whiter shade of pale sound  or that unique Shadows sound etc.
Have tried myself and had little luck.

Welcome (back?) to the PSR Tutorial Forum, suewest!

You originally posted on the PSR-SX board. I moved your post here to the Tyros2 board and created this topic "Tyros2 Mic Input Problem" for you.

Please describe your problem with the Tyros2 Mic Input in as much detail as possible, otherwise no one here will be able to help you.

Best regards,
Chris

Genos Speakers / Foot Pedals / Re: Yamaha HS Speaker Recommendation

The KRK 5 speakers are supposed to deliver down to 46 HZ,...
Yes, but at 46Hz loudness falls by -10dB! If measured for +/-3db deviation (which is standard for linearity), then KRK goes only down to about 50-53Hz.
Same applies for Yamaha HS8:
47Hz -3dB
38Hz -10dB

I asked for info on Tyros2 mic input problems but got only reference to SX900 keyboards. What am I doing wrong?
FYI, the site has changed and is not easier to navigate. Probably me. It's been a while.

The KRK 5 speakers are supposed to deliver down to 46 HZ, which is F#1 on a piano keyboard. The HS8 with its larger woofer should be able to get down to 38 Hz which is D#1. Thus, the HS8 will provide you with an extra 3 semitones in the sub bass region. Presumably the HS8 will be able to play at louder volume without distortion. To get down below than you either need a larger woofer, which comes with its own set of problems, or add a subwoofer.

A 10" subwoofer can take you down to around 32 Hz which is C1 on the piano. Below that gets much tougher. The bottom octave, which ranges from 16-32 Hz is going to require a very large, powerful subwoofer if you want to play C0 at significant volume. The recent Klipsch RP 1600 subwoofer claims to have a range of 14.5 - 175 Hz +/- 3 db. But that sub will set you back $1500 for the privilege of playing that bottom octave at 800 watts RMS.

Thus, you need to determine how low you really need to go and how much you are willing to spend to achieve that goal.

I do have a pair of KRK 5s for critical listening such as mixing. For playing my Genos 2, I use a pair of 4.5" Personus monitor speakers that only go down to 70 Hz, but then have a sub to fill in the bass. While I love the sound of a 32 ft organ stop playing C0 at 16 Hz, I do not need to experience it at full volume in my home studio, so I have not purchased a 16" subwoofer.

Genos2 / Re: Genos 2 multipad problem

Hi Joe
Thanks for your reply .
If I record in Genos sequencer the little passage of playing two notes alternativly.
It is the Synth twiddle in Band on the Run and sounds like ooweoweoooo on a moog synth, so mono notes.
I tried doing this in C on the Genos multpad sequencer and the first note is correct and the second an octave higher where as i want it lower.
I also did this in Midi padmaker and there is no  code changes in that. Style pad maker is not for what i am trying to achieve.
When i use presets they happen as they should so far.

The only way i can figure this out is to make two pads or use a split keyboard registration.
When i try to do this on one pad with chord follow it does not follow what i had in mind or the same as the original song.
With a style i believe casm sorts out the way that a chord plays and the chord it seems is affecting how the lead plays.
I am only guessing this as i have not gone into casms  etc.

I think I maybe asking the pad to do too much as i have checked out the hated doo-be-doos. "I hate them"! ;D
I need two or three notes to prove what is or what is not on second note on chord follow .
So from what i can make of that is, that you have to make another for pad for variations.

So it must be a choice of a couple or three pads  or use a keyboard split.

For Anyone Interested--

Apart from that recording midi into Cubase is a breeze , but trying to get controllers on the Genos to manipulate Cubase mixer is a horrible mess, unless you have a degree in how Yamaha operates the Genos. The Steinberg CC121 Controller is best to use.
If you remember the Style that you use and instruments for tracks after editing, you can save and reopen then turn to wave file or files ready to mix and master :)

All the best
John :)

Thanks Graham. If I decide to get this keyboard later this year I will have to get used to using USB more to play from due to the small user memory.

I’ve seen enough feedback from users & reviews that Yamaha has definitely revamped the whole instrument including the keybed since the 640 days.

I have similar voice registrations (style unticked) on my current SX900. I will probably have less of these on the 67O as it will be more of a piano focused keyboard. It would be interesting to compare both keyboards side by side and see how they compare, as they certainly have similarities and differences. There are also some interesting comments in this section of the forum comparing the 670’s VRM CFX to the Genos CFX.

I get your point Drake.

But the registration called up by the playlist can also be linked to a text file. You can put your lead sheet details in that, together with any special performance notes you may want to have along with the song. Surely that's a good thing for a gigging player?

John,

Try loading the Multi Pad into PadMaker-Midi and change the Code #.  The choices are 1 - 5.  We don't know what the other codes mean.  You may have to experiment to get the correct code for the MP to play as you like.  Check the PadMAker-Mid manual to see if there is an explanation on the codes.

Hi Drake,

MobileSheetsPro is the application, which can solve at least 3 or 4 (maybe all 5) your points at once. When your tablet with MSP is connected to keyboard, by tapping on a song name you can display lead sheet on tablet and set keyboard to start that song. You have library with 450+ songs, but can prepare many different setlists for individual performances. Library is divided by letters A, B, C, ... Z, so you can see your songs beginning by any letter sorted alphabetically. You can even display that song (lead sheet or lyrics) to other musicians/singers playing/singing with you, if they have tablet/phone with MSP.
Just an idea
