After three weeks with the Korg, I decided to send it back to Sweetwater.  Biggest reason was the complexity with transferring almost 200 songs from the Yamaha to the Korg.  I'd have to do each one individually and that seemed a bit much (at this point I've done three).   I gig a lot more in the summer and with the season just heating up I need to be ready to go.   Additionally, I did constant side-to-side tests with the pair playing through my Bose PA and about 75% of the time found I preferred the sound of the Yamaha, mostly due to what I consider to be better-sounding styles.  Not only that, but Korg just never really "grabbed" me like the SX900 did when it was new.  Of course, I found things I preferred with the Korg (keybed, Hammond sounds, better display) but with lots of gigs coming up I just can't start with a new OS at the present.  Now, my present SX900 has seen a lot of use and the keys have loosened up and some buttons require a heavier touch, so I ordered a new one and am selling my present one--at a significant discount--to a young friend who tried it out last year and loved it.  He's a new player but has a lot of talent and I'm sure he'll have a great time with the SX.  I'm hardly a do-gooder, but it's not a bad thing to be able to help out a new, young player.

If anyone has experience with both the SX900 and Genos;

1)  I was wondering if playing live gigs is easier with one vs the other?
2)  Is the SX900 a little easier to learn if this is my first yamaha arranger?
3)  Lastly, does the SX900 have enough memory/storage to have 50 to 100 songs in your list?

1) Lighter weight, easier to transport.
2) Don't know, having never owed a Genos
3) I have over 200 songs on my list and have used less than 25% of the memory.

Trying to play Roland TD-12 electric drums but trigger Yamaha Genos 2 drums (using Cubase as a host for both the E-Drums and Genos).

I can easily make a dedicated drum map, but I know it's going to be complex on the Hi Hats. Has anyone done it yet?

The Genos is bigger and heavier than the SX900. How good is your back and how big is your car?

Both keyboards can read a USB card. So the number of songs there is no limit.

Unfortunately that can't be done on an iMac
Those .- files don't show up on a thumb drive when accessed by Mac

I don't have a Mac, but files with a dot at the beginning are hidden files on UNIX-like operating systems. These hidden files can usually be made visible. For macOS I found the following:

Quote
You can toggle hidden files on and off by holding down the three keys

shift-command-period

at the same time in any Finder window. This setting will apply across all your Finder windows.

I hope that this is of any help.

But there is no a priori reason the style dynamic control
should not be savable in a registration.
All the other knob and slider values can be saved
in registrations. I very much would like to see this fixed
via a firmware update: save style dynamics control
in a registration.

I can only second that. It may well be that others have different workflows but at least for me using registrations heavily with complex songs and simultaneous singing I can't change the dynamics during my performance. It would be nice if others would simply accept that instead of defending Yamaha or assuming that this functionality is "meant to be that way".

Also, for the sliders, I would be more than happy if the behaviour could be changed (as an option) as follows:
  • if no style is running the value should be taken from the current position of the slider immediately
  • if a style is running the user should decide via setting if the value need to be "catched" or simply taken from the current position (Genos 1 behaviour)

For me, this would save me a lot of unneccessarily moving the sliders during sound creation most of the time.

I hope that Yamaha is listening to their loyal users and enhance an already incredible instrument even further.
