PSR-SX900/SX700/SX600 / Re: Expansion Packs not loading
« Last post by meyrick on Today at 08:55:15 AM »
Hi Lacko and Chris. It would appear my packs on the USB have become corrupted somehow. I down loaded a new pack from the Yamaha site, loaded it into the YEM and it works fine.

Many thanks for the assistance

Hi Chris. Yes, SX900. The Packs are converted from T4 and have been used on occasions previously. I have to say I have not the one expansion pack purchased from the Yamaha site. I will search it out, give it try and come back to you.

Genos2 / Re: genos 2 arrived yesterday
« Last post by motekmusic on Today at 06:24:03 AM »
Hello again dear forum members,

Well, i just got blown away yesterday when had a chance to troll through the styles, which some are same as previous keyboard,
I was so happy with that ROCK FOLDER... let me explain,  Am not a fan and hardly play any of those rock guitar voices that
are in variations 3 or 4 in the previous rock style folders, so i skip that setting and just use the 3 normal voices.   However,
the rock styles now included in that new genos are more usable for me as the OTS does not give over a rock guitar voice.
Of course there are the regular rock styles, but there are some new rock styles that just were fantastic.(am not about to name
them as not near the machine) but they are there.  Now can use that rock folder...instead of passing it by,,
Just my 2 cents. for now. (we get alot of rumbles here anyway with all the airforce activity flying over our heads)

thanks again for all your support

cheers

Hi Fred,

This makes sense. I now understand why performers limit their folder and files. Since I only play at home for my own enjoyment, the delays for me are insignificant. As for the 250 page search, being more selective does minimize the number of entries/pages so that is not is not necessarily a bad thing either.

What about having lots of Registrations, say 250 pages worth. Is there good reasoning as well for keeping them down to a minimum of say 255 entries per folder.

I appreciate your information and can now better understand the recommendations to minimize in some cases.

        Thank You.               dom

Tyros 5 (SFF2) / Re: T5 - Main Line out and Ports 1, 2, 3 & 4

Good morning,

If you adjust the line-out settings in a registration and save them in the registration itself, for example Bank 1 - reg 1, then you must also save the registration bank itself when you are completely finished, otherwise it will not remember it.

I work in my studio with the T5 and have the following setting:

Arranger - main out l/r
Drums - sub 1
Bass - sub 2
Right 1,2,3 - sub 3
Multipads - sub 4

I use the Yamaha Registration Manager for this, among other things.
Very handy program, where you can enter and save all settings in your registration. After this, all you have to do is load it into your T5 and everything will be ready as you programmed it.

Yamaha keyboards search for a file alphabetically. The more files it has to go through, the longer it takes.

For style files, this can result in the style not starting on time.

The biggest issue for me is loading text files, which is where I have my lyrics. The delay is noticeable in a folder with a lot if files. Playing at home, it’s not an issue. But for a gig, it is.

I also find it easier to find files when I have fewer files/folder. I can’t imagine going through 250 pages to find the file I want.

Cheers,
Fred

Genos Speakers / Foot Pedals / Re: Genos Vocal Harmony always On
« Last post by CPAC on Today at 02:10:43 AM »
Do you happen to know if the vocal harmony on the Genos sounds better than the vocal harmony on the PRS SX900 or would it be exactly the same?

Thank you.

Genos Speakers / Foot Pedals / Re: Yamaha HS Speaker Recommendation
« Last post by CPAC on Today at 01:20:41 AM »
Do most people feel that the Genos speakers (GNS-MS01) are really good?  I saw one video from a reviewer who thought they were terrible.  I haven't heard many "speaker" comments from anyone else one way or the other.  Is there a commonly used alternative or do most people enjoy the MS01s?  (I'm thinking of home use for now.)  On a gig, could they be used as my monitors and of course the PA would be for the audience?

Also, can anyone tell me if the vocal harmony on the genos would sound better than that on the PSR SX900 or are they exactly the same vocal harmony?

Thank you!
Chris
