Hello dear friends!!
This is my first post on PSR Tutorial Forum.
My name is Sokratis, I am from Greece.
I am professional style programmer, and sound engineer.
Μaybe some of you know me from Synthzone Forum.
So.. A few months ago I bought the Genos and I am glad with this Arranger Keyboard..
Its realy a amazing Arranger with fantastic sound!!...
However I found some deficiencies and I sended a email in Yamaha about this...
I hope fixed or added in a future Update...
I post now my email to share it with you.
Thanks.
Style Creator, and Style Problems
1) I found that Sustain Pental does not work in Style Creator when we want to record something.
I consider this to be a very negative element and I consider it extremely important that we can add expressive data through Sustain to instruments such as Piano, Ac.Guitar, El.Guitar, etc
I know we can have this ability if we write our Styles through a DAW (Cubase, logic, ProTools etc).
But because time is precious and many times we need to do something in a direct way, I would like to ask you to add this feature to your next Update.
Here I have to note that in all the Keyboards/Arrangers of other companies (Korg, Ketron, Roland) this function exists.
2) In countries like Greece, Turkey, all the Balkan states as well as in many Arab countries, there is a need (due to our Musical Culture) to have a different Time Signature than a simple 4/4, 3/4, etc .
We have too many (Basic Styles) in Time Signature: 9/8, 7/8, 11/8, 5/8, 13/8 etc.
The options that Genos has in Style Creator are:
2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4.
I urge you to add the possibility not only of Fours, but also of Eights because it is impossible to make styles concerning our musical culture, which we use as a necessary element in live performances.
I think it's best to have a free choice from the user and not strictly limited to 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4.
Sitting in the musical world there are not only these.
3) I noticed that after I loaded my own Audio Drums, which I made through Audio Phraser, although it works quite well, many times Fill is not activated when we do not just press the Fill switch to the meter position do not play Fill, which is often impossible on a Live Performing.
The Fill switch re-starts when we press it, which means it's got the command, but it does not play Fill.
In tests I found that this does not apply to Factory Audio Styles that I downloaded from the Yamaha Site where everything works correctly without any problems.
4) Another point I found and I find quite problematic is the Insert FX system in a Style (and I think it's the same in the other areas).
Suppose we want to add an FX chain to a channel, for example, a Compressor, an Amp Simulator, and a Phaser.
When we open them, everything is all right, and after setting them up everything is perfect.
But (and here's the problem), if we want to re-set up one of the FX chains, there is no way (or at least I could not find it) to get back to one of them.
The only option we have is to do Edit only on the last FX of the chain that appears in the Assing Part Settings (Effect) section.
5) There is another problem with saving FX but this time the problem is detected in One Touch Setting.
So when we want to modify an OTS in one style, and we want to have two FXs in a chain of a part of the sound, (Right 1-2-3) everything is OK (except for the FX Edit problem that I mentioned above), but after the OTS has been stored, there is only one FX in the chain and the first has been activated in defoult mode.
6) Audio (Audio Drums) can not be EQ ...
I find this extremely negative because my Audya experience has shown me that EQ is a very important and necessary tool for Audio Drums to glue into the mix of instruments.
At Audya we have in the section of Factory Audio Drums and User Audio Drums, where there were two Band EQ (Bass & Treble) regions with multiple frequencies of choice, and as a professional programmer and sound engineer, I feel this is necessary.
When we hear something about it, for example, an Audio Loop, it's completely different than making this Audio Loop fit and stick with other instruments in a mix.
Out there we need EQ, and Compressor for this purpose.
But given that Audio Drums has already undergone Mastering at the finishing stage, I consider it an indispensable element in the Style, just the EQ in order to homogenize our mix.
So I think the EQ that you've removed is very important, from Reverb & Chorus Send that you have left open.
I would like to ask you to add at least the EQ of the two regions that exists in the other Mixer elements.
7) Also I found significant shortage on Style Creator.
I think its very important to have except Retrigger (on Changes of Chords), and Off Trigger like Korg, and Ketron...
This is important in a Guitar Strum Chanel for example, becouse with Retrigger mode, does not allow in change of Chord to complete the Chord Strum and to be heard smoothly, but interrupts it and enters in the next chord, and that sounds very bad..
In a style when we Programming a Guitar Strum, (for example 2 Bar Style), this Recorded to the last two quarter of the last Bar..
With Of Trigger the Strum play the Chord and in the change of Chord does not interrupt completion of the previous Chord.
Also the Of Trigger it's very useful when we Recording a Piano or some times in a Arpegio Guitar with which we do not want to start at the beginning the play in every chord change..
We want the chord change, but not to altered by the Retrigger Mode the Riff that we have recorded..
Audio Phraser Problem
I'm having a problem importing Audio Loops Elements (Main, s / Fill, s etc) and for some reason I get the Internal Error # 0096 message.
The wave loop file has no problem ..
The same loops work without any problems at Ketron Audya as well as in Korg Pa3x / Pa4x that I have put as Slice Groove ..
This does not just happen with this Audio Style but also in other cases I went to create my own Audio Style.
I can to send a attach the Print Screen as well as the specific wav file to see what can happen.
