Yamaha 9000 Pro Professional Stage Synthesizer

Yamaha 9000 Pro keyboardJanuary 18, 2001- Anaheim, CA--Yamaha Corporation of America, Portable Keyboards, will launch a new dimension in sound and performance with the introduction of the 9000 Pro Stage Synthesizer at Winter NAMM 2001. This 76-key, synth-weighted keyboard represents an amazing array of production and performance-oriented features. A versatile arranging workstation for the professional musician as well as an ideal live performance instrument, the 9000 Pro is currently available.

"The 9000 Pro is a truly professional product which breaks the rules," states Jim Presley, marketing manager, Yamaha Portable Keyboards. "It has a combination of features that simply doesn't exist on any other keyboard, and thinks 'out of the box' with unexpected capabilities."

The stunning sound quality is one of the best ever produced by Yamaha. Expanded to 126-note maximum polyphony, the 9000 Pro is loaded with 48 MB with over 800 incredible voices, reproducing all the timbres and nuances of acoustic and amplified instruments. Innovative live drum sounds contain six layers of samples which crossfade from each other, based on velocity. These have been recorded in stereo, resulting in realism never before heard in sampled drums.

Consider expandability. The 9000 Pro allows Yamaha's new synth expansion boards to be added, resulting in new and diverse synth engines, new voices, polyphony, and synth architecture with each plug-in. The on-board sampling RAM can be increased to 65 MB, while an internal hard drive (up to 8 GB) can be added for storing voices, styles, songs, and set-ups. External storage devices, such as ZIP or JAZ drives, can be accessed through an included fast SCSI terminal.

Video output allows the 9000 Pro to display lyrics from a MIDI song file through a projector or directly onto a television monitor. This is an attractive feature for churches that display lyrics, or even for use as a Karaoke device. With the microphone input, digital mixer and vocal harmonizer, users can actually sing through the 9000 Pro, and add vocal harmony in real time.

Innovations continue with four individual outputs, 12 blocks of DSP effects, an onboard sequencer and professional automated mixer. The 9000 Pro also contains a Flash ROM operating system, which enables software upgrades to be loaded from disk or the Web.

The unit comes complete with initial and after touch, pitch bend and mod wheels. Designed for users at every level, the 9000 Pro may be connected directly to a computer without requiring a MIDI interface, and contains GM compatibility and auto accompaniment features. In addition, the 9000 Pro is fully compatible with the software used on sister models, the PSR9000 and PSR8000.

Much attention has been paid to quick and efficient operation. The 9000 Pro contains a large music database, and all interfaces have been simplified through the direct access function, one-touch settings, and on-screen guidance—a necessity for the performing musician who must change settings quickly. In addition, a PS-2 PC keyboard input allows the user to enter alphanumeric data, taking the 9000 Pro to a new level of user-friendliness.

The versatility of the Yamaha 9000 Pro invites live performance musicians, studio musicians, songwriters and amateurs alike to experience the highest level of musical performance and productivity—all from the same keyboard.
