(September, 2004) Dennis, The "Musician". (The picture here, of course, is not me, but it does represent me more than any I've ever seen. It IS me in a couple of years!)
Dennis was born at a very early age in Detroit, Michigan. His music career started (and ended suddenly) at age 7 when he sat on, and broke, the bakelite ocarena his grandfather had given him. His evil and sadistic parents bought him an accordion that he had to practice before baseball. Dennis combined the two -- playing shortstop with his accordion (as THE second base). Dennis' accordion teacher lauded him constantly about his unique ability to improve weekly - without ever having practiced. He played in an accordion band at 12, but was ordered to only pretend to squeeze - he wasn't playing the same notes as the band.
Dennis was asked to appear on TV at age 13, but he tore up the invitation before his parents saw it. His rendition of Lady of Spain and Lover for his 8th grade graduation ceremony "stunned" the crowd. Those are still his best songs. He can now add the left hand" omm pahh" - sometimes correctly. His once beautiful soprano voice, he found, came from his "jewels" getting caught in the bellows. That remedied, he soon won a cigar from his choir director for singing the lowest "Halleluah" note.
Music took a music hiatus until a few years ago when asked to play accordion with the well-known "Musical Milkers" in rural S.E. Ohio. Dennis says, "The cows DO produce more milk - especially when I am not there. (They do pee a lot when I'm there".)
Ten years ago Dennis bought his first Casio for $2 -- run by two D cells. It is this instrument that he plays the tunes on this page (sometimes substituting the Yamaha 9000 and 2100). Dennis is now playing on a PSR-3000.
Dennis was assured that "anyone with half a brain" could use music to attract a female life-mate. Dennis, still a bachelor, has decided to retire soon from music to attempt an on-line dating service.
