Richie Havens used a quick strum, percussive guitar style.

hi Mike,
I can't recall any style that contains such percussive guitar strumming (maybe there is some). If I'm right, then the only way to get it, is to create the style yourself by using some megavoice guitar -is quite complicated, though 
I suggest you check guitar multipads first!
