Hi everyone!!!
« on: December 02, 2023, 10:33:29 PM »
As a firm supporter of Yamaha keyboards through their many incarnations over the years, I have checked out this forum many times as a guest. I’m a retired guy with a reasonable musical skill & just enjoy playing for my own amusement. A few days ago I became a proud owner of the new Genos2 & looking forward to many happy hours ahead. The vast knowledge of the community here is staggering so I’ve decided to become part of it. Thanks for letting me in….!!
Sadly my keyboard is still in its packing as I don’t have the Genos speakers yet, they’re ordered but estimated delivery is not for another 3 weeks. Grrrrr……
I have a question…… I have a perfectly functioning TRS-MS01 sound system for the Tyros 1. By just using the 8 pin cable of this system between the original sub & the Genos & using the existing 2 satellite speakers would this work ??? The last thing I would want is to cause any damage due to my impatience but any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

Welcome to the PSR Tutorial Forum, Bluebear, and thank you for your kind words! :)

The TRS-MS01 speaker system is NOT compatible with Genos1/2 because the 8-pin terminals/cables have a different pin assignment. I recommend using headphones while you wait for the Genos speakers. It's always good to have a good pair of headphones available. If you don't own headphones yet, the AKG K-240 Mk2 would be a good choice.

By the way, I use the AKG K-712 Pro.

Best regards,
Chris

Many thanks for the very warm welcome and all the links to further info. There’s plenty on this website to keep me amused till the speakers show up!!

Thanks also to Chris for the answer to my query. It was for that very reason that I held off doing anything because of the fear of doing damage. The jury’s out on whether to use headphones in the short term, and I do have a decent pair from Bose, but on balance I think I’ll wait so I can experience the big reveal.

It is satisfying to know where to come for answers to issues I will undoubtedly come across in future with my new toy.

Thanks for your kind and detailed feedback, Bluebear!

By the way, what you could do in advance (even without speakers) would be to install the Genos2 firmware update V1.02:   :)
