« on: December 02, 2023, 05:57:57 AM »
Hello group,

I have posted this in Geno's forums but looks like it's dead cus of Genos2 so let me try here 😋

C/P

Wonder if anyone would know sysex code for OTS Buttons,...
I have located one for OTS4 and looks like its identified as Button 128, but I have trouble for first 3 (F0 43 73 01 52 25 00 01 01 00 01 7F F7)

Hi Akki,

Why do you need these SysEx codes?

Do you want to remotely control the OTS buttons from an external device (e.g. computer / tablet), or do you want to use the OTS buttons to control certain functions of an external device?

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Chicken fry,

A lot of things on a keyboard are based on the MIDI standard:

SysEx (= system exclusive messages) are special MIDI messages that are used for many different purposes:

Hope this helps!

Good day Chris,

Idea is to Controll Mobile Sheets page turn with OTS 3 (back) OTS 4 (next)
I rarely use those for any sounds anyway as my setup is mainly in REGs

Thanks

Akki,

How did you determine that OTS4 is Button 128 is in that sysex string?

You can see it in screenshot above... Mobile Sheets detect it as such.

Now I'm confused, none of those pairs is 80; F7 is 127 and 7F at the end is 247...?
Or are we counting from 0 as 1? i.e. adding 1 to each hex code?

Thanks for clarification, Akki!

I haven't tried this yet, but I don't think the OTS buttons send fixed SysEx.

By the way, when you press an OTS button, AMCP is automatically switched on and Style Sync Start is activated. Maybe these are the SysEx that you detected.

Best regards,
Chris

Thanks to you and trying to help!!
I still couldn't figure out OTS and sysex ...

BTW, I have ordered this title device https://a.co/d/aT1Jzqu - hoping it will do just what I need.
There is lots of empty space on Genos right side, and this "button" looks small enough to fit anywhere.

Thanks, that's a cool little device! I'll check it out.

I tried to investigate OTS SysEx on G1 by watching on a MIDI monitor (MIDI OX). Pressing an OTS button sends a lot of messages for voice set-up including a few SysEx messages. None of the SysEx messages are unique to a single button.

I don't think it's possible to "learn" an OTS button in the same way as a Registration button/bank.

Have fun -- pj
