Hi
With legato you  play a group of notes in a smooth manner so that one starts before the other quite finishes. In the music notation for the song the notes to be played this way are shown with a slur. With a cross fade you fade out a song while fading in another so there is no silence between the pieces.

They both infer smooth transitions with no silence, but legato is an instrument playing technique, while cross fade is a sound reproduction technique.

Hi Amirreza2000,

On keyboards that support this (e.g. PSR-A5000), if the Portamento Type "Mono" is selected in Voice Edit, one of the three settings "Normal", "Legato" or "Crossfade" can be used. The differences are explained on page 46 of the PSR-A5000 Reference Manual:

Portamento Type (Mono only)

Determines the behavior of the notes of decaying sounds, such as a guitar, when they are played with legato with the edited Voice set to “Mono”.

• Normal: The next note sounds after the previous note is stopped.
• Legato: The sound of the previously played note is maintained and only the pitch changes to that of the next note.
• Crossfade: The sound smoothly transitions from the previously played note to the next note.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
