PSR E473: can it play MIDI files on USB ?
« on: June 21, 2023, 03:15:04 AM »
Is there a way for the PSR E473 to play MIDI files (stored on USB as .MID) ?
I have a number of MIDI songs on USB and like to play them on the PSR E473.

Hi tyros2009,

Yes, the E473 can play MIDI files ("Songs") from a USB stick, however, not as comfortable as e.g. with PSR-S/SX or Tyros/Genos.

Please refer to the E473 Owner's Manual  starting from page 34. The songs on the connected USB stick can be called up on the E473 using the Song Numbers starting with 041. If also MIDI files transferred from a computer are in the E473's internal memory, these Songs will start with number 041, i.e. the songs on the USB stick get higher numbers.

P.S.
The manual does not mention whether only MIDI files in the root directory of the USB stick are supported, or files in folders on the stick are also recognized. I would just try it. Apparently, however, there is no way to select a specific folder on the stick.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris
