Topic: Do the Yamaha expansion premium sax voices work on the SX900

The Yamaha website, voices & Style Expansion pages lists Premium Voices.  They have options for Genos and Tyros.  Do the Genos versions work on the SX900?  Thanks for any info on this.

Hi --

The particular expansion pack that you mention in your post contains Super Articulation 2 (SArt2) voices. The SX900 does not support SArt2 voices.

Plus, YEM does (some) model compatibility checking. I don't think you will be able to load this pack into SX900.

I’m 99% sure the GENOS Expansion pack does not contain any voices.

They were removed from the pack when Genos was introduced because the voices are incorporated as preset ones.

Hi wannjl,

In addition to pj's explanations, these premium packs come (like almost all Yamaha packs now) in protected .cpf format. These .cpf files are model specific, so cannot be used with any other model. In this case there are only versions for Tyros5-61, Tyros5-76 and Genos.
