Factory Reset help required - PSR-SX700 Touchscreen problem
« on: March 16, 2023, 01:11:13 PM »
Hi

Cannot open my USER files, have tried the normal factory reset but no change.

Opened MENU but can't open page 2 to get to UTILITY for a Factory reset.

Can anyone help?

Kind Regards

Jimbo

Hi Jimbo

You MAY not need a factory reset.
Try holding down the last key on your SX700 and then power it on.  Keep it pressed down until your screen loads fully.

See if that helps

Hi Jimbo,

which TYPE of user files are you trying to open? Styles, Registrations?

Best regards,
Chris

Thanks Chris

I'm trying to open STYLES, the screen changes when I press style or voice or menu but it will not respond if I try to change anything.

Looking back on the forum for clues, I see you had this exact same problem on May 20th 2020.

Removing the USB stick seemed to solve it that time, so maybe try that.

I don't know how
to link to your previous post, but the date should help you to locate it.
Keith.

Hi Jimbo,

Can you select Preset styles? (e.g. Style Category button "Pop&Rock" > "SkyPop")?

Does this work on the touch screen? If so, you should be able to access the User drive via "User > User" and the connected USB stick via "User > USB1".

If the touch screen doesn't work at all, i.e. if it doesn't respond on all displays, that wouldn't be good. In this case you could try to recalibrate the touch screen using the internal Test program. Get in touch here again and I can send you the relevant information.

But first of all, please make sure that the inner edges/corners of the touch screen are clean (clean carefully with a vacuum cleaner if necessary). If you're using a screen protector, try removing it. Such protective films or dust, dirt, scraps of paper in the edges/corners can impair the function of the touch screen.

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Jimbo,

Here is the link to your thread from 2020, where the same problem (touch screen doesn't response) has obviously occurred before, as already mentioned by Keith:

Thanks Chris... I must learn how to do that.

I see that Jimbo has now opened another post, but I don't think there's anything useful I can add to this one, other than that maybe the touch screen itself may not be behaving.

Hi

Thanks to all who tried to help out, took Chris's advice to do what I did the last time it happened in 2020

Switch off and left for 1/2 hour and it righted itself.

Very much obliged to all

Kind Regards

Jimbo

Hi Jimbo,

Did you take note of the following advice from me?

... But first of all, please make sure that the inner edges/corners of the touch screen are clean (clean carefully with a vacuum cleaner if necessary). If you're using a screen protector, try removing it. Such protective films or dust, dirt, scraps of paper in the edges/corners can impair the function of the touch screen. ...

Have you already recalibrated the touch screen in the menu, as recommended in the 2020 thread? ("Menu > Utility > Touch Screen/Display > Touch Screen > Calibration")

If so, and the problem still comes back, I recommend, as mentioned, performing a recalibration using the internal Test program:

... If the touch screen doesn't work at all, i.e. if it doesn't respond on all displays, that wouldn't be good. In this case you could try to recalibrate the touch screen using the internal Test program. Get in touch here again and I can send you the relevant information. ...

By the way, I removed your today's thread "PSR-SX700 Touchscreen problem" and added this to the subject of this thread.

Best regards,
Chris

One thing that just popped in my mind was. Did you ever try updating the Firmware. it might also fix bugs too.

Hi Chris

Sorry for delay, but yes I did thoroughly clean the whole screen and that might well have resolved the problem, we'll never know for sure.

Regards calibration, my touchscreen wasn't working so couldn't access the Menu.

Would you still recommend I recalibrate even now that it's working normally again?

Thanks again for your help.

Jim
