It’s done with an audio Multipad that you can record or download.

It is quite simple.
Reference Manual: starting Page 54.

"You can create a new Multi Pad by making the links with audio files (WAV format:
44.1 kHz sample rate, 16 bit resolution) in the User drive and USB flash drive to each
of the Multi Pad. The audio files (WAV) can be data you’ve recorded on this
instrument as well as commercially available ones. Multi Pads to which audio files
have been linked are called Audio Link Multi Pads. The new Audio Link Multi Pads
can be saved to the User drive or USB flash drive"
Notice: audio level and/or simultanious on/off
My best regards,
Ton

Does that mean all Yamaha arrangers can play and record these multipads ?
Wishful thinking, I guess ?  ;)

Hi Jeff --

If an arranger supports Audio Link Multi Pads, then "Yes." I remember doing this on PSR-S950, for example.

Folks need to check the Owner's/Reference Manual for their specific Yamaha arranger.

Hi PJ :

I followed your suggestion to check my Ty4 manual but there is nothing I found about AL- Multipads.
I presume Ty4 is not suitable. ???

On the other hand I understand it might be possible to create a Custom Voice from an Audio file and convert it to a multipad.
I guess one needs the extra expansion flash card which I do not have.  :'(

Best regards, JH

Hi Jeff --

Sorry to say, Audio Linked Multi Pads were added in Tyros 5. Time to update/upgrade!  :)
