Playing Style files on a PC
« on: December 31, 2022, 06:32:33 PM »
Is there any software available that will enable me to play yamaha style files on my Windows computer?
Any advice would be gratefully accepted.
Happy new year to everyone

Try Simplified Style Player.  It should work for you.

Hi,

Unfortunately, that appears to be a dead link now. :-\

But here is a style player here that may work for you :

They likely will not sound good even if you can play them, because the computer does not have access to your excellent sound processing and keyboard voices. It will use voices in the computer which are generally rubbish.

Yes Mike,
Only one way to here the styles full potential is to listen on keyboard.

The MIDIplayer on the computer is awful, and it has no drums.

You could try MIDI & Style Player

http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/software/software.htm#msp

What do you actually want to do with the files.  If you simply want to audition them, you may find it actually easier on the keyboard.

I personally believe that it is quite interesting software.

It is absolutely clear that the styles quality is good on the keyboard only. But sometimes I need to reorganize styles folders layout, a kind of work that is much more convenient to do on the computer. And when you have nearly thousand of styles it can be very useful to may listen to the style (even with poor quality sounds) to better identify it, not just by its name (often there are  styles with quite similar names).

I wonder if there is any application of this kind for Mac.

Thank you

Hi. My MIDI and style player (mentioned above) is a java based program and will run at Mac.
Read at http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/software/software.htm about installation and setup.
