Help with usb
« on: December 12, 2022, 07:00:44 PM »
Hi all, wonder if any of you lovely people can help jog my memory please?
I have purchased a usb stick containing loads of new styles, but I have forgotten how to save into registration bank! I have found a few that I would like to save in but am wary of doing it, as I have lost stuff previously. I have the Genos keyboard.
Any help would be appreciated

Thank you for taking the time to reply, however, the style I wanted to save is on a usb stick?

You can copy the Styles from the USB to the USER.

To add to Stijn's comment - the User drive is the same as a C drive on a PC. Yamaha uses some oddball terminology at times.

It is always best to save any styles you are going to use on registrations into a folder on your user section. Then make sure you load the style from this folder before linking it to your registration. You can always add other styles at a latter date but make sure you never move this folder.

It's simple really The user drive takes the place of the hard drive.

Right, Eileen.

Question: Did the Tyros series used spinning disk drives, whereas the Genos' primary User drive is an SSD?

Actually ‘user drive’ seems a more meaningful name to me than either hard drive or C drive. Yamaha got that right.

Thanks, Fred.

Mike, you're probably right. The Genos is a keyboard first, driven by computer technology. "User drive" feels right. They should document it however as, "User drive, which is the same as a primary drive in a computer." The fact they didn't, forces users to fill in the blanks. That's something you NEVER want to do when creating manuals. It's irresponsible and can actually kill.
