Shortening a MIDI Song?
« on: September 20, 2022, 04:27:06 AM »
I recorded a 48 bar MIDI song on my Genos. I hit Stop about two seconds too late, so the recording went on into bar 49.

I tried to shorten the song to the desired 48 bars using StepEdit. I went through all the tracks and deleted everything that was in bar 49. Once I did that, the end markers on all of the tracks showed a time of 049:1:0000 in StepEdit, which it does not seem possible to change.

When I play this song with either of the looping controls enabled, it loops, but there is a one bar silent pause before the song starts again.

I tried exporting the song as a MIDI file and getting rid of bar 49 using Cubase. But when I import and play the edited file, I get the same silent pause after bar 48 when looping.

I'm hoping someone can tell me how to get a MIDI file to loop properly. Here's a link to the MIDI file.

Hi Michael,

I'm pretty sure it is the first bar that creates this silence when looping.
Put a Song Position Pointer at 002:1:0000  SPJ-01.
Can be easily done in MixMaster. Don't know about cubase.

Once inserted you will see this SPJ-01 in the song window on the Genos.
Use the loop button on the song position    M 01 02 03 04 Loop

Brilliant! Perfect! It might have taken me days to figure this out by myself.

I was even able to insert the necessary marker as described on Page 81 of the Genos Owners Manual.

Thanks!
