STEP EDIT to Chord Looper
« on: July 16, 2022, 01:00:12 AM »
Discussions about Chord Looper motivated an experiment or two. nonchai would like to improvise over the Coltrane changes and would like a library of Chord Looper tunes or at least an easy way to enter a chord progression with precision.

Long story: http://sandsoftwaresound.net/step-edit-chord-looper/

Short story: Use Chord STEP EDIT in MIDI Multi Record to enter a chord progression. Expand the chord track and save the result as a Standard MIDI File (SMF). Copy the SMF to a USB flash drive. Use a personal computer to change the MID file extension of  the expanded MIDI file to CLD. Import the CLD file into Chord Looper. Have Fun.

Short nerdy answer: The expansion step creates the Yamaha XF chord meta events needed by Chord Looper. Chord Looper ignores all other MIDI events, e.g., notes, program changes, and so forth.

All the best -- pj
