Styles for CGP1000
« on: July 10, 2022, 10:14:16 PM »
Hi,
I own a CGP 1000 grand. Beautiful instrument.
Will any of the Styles that you offer work on my instrument?
Thanks.

Dear Tom,

I own a Clavinova CVP309 in polished ebony, and an actual Genos arranger, both beautiful instruments.

Your "Rolls Royce" was produced about the same time of my CVP309, if I'm right. Then I assume that its styles are in SFF1 format.

Yamaha styles are of two formats:
-SFF1 format, early keyboards including Clavinova CVP 409 and Tyros 2.
-SFF2 format, the one presently used

Any SFF2 instrument is able to load both SFF1 and SFF2 styles.
SFF1 instruments can only load SFF1 format (actually there are software able to convert SFF2 styles to SFF1 format).

I believe that you can load directly (no need of external software) into your CGP1000 any SFF1 style. This web site got PLENTY of them.

Enjoy...

Thank you very much!!. My Rolls Royce has a great sound system and beautiful cabinet.
But since it is a bit “old”, I wanted to re-energize its sounds.

I am just learning about the 2 file types.

It sounds like whatever I purchase here in the early format will load on both/either my CGP1000 and…my new Genos.

I couldn’t ask for better.

Again that you for leading a Newbie thru the learning.

Dear Tom,

you got it right.

If you like to surf trough the huge amount of available styles (most for free) you can start from the linked page of Psrtutorial:

https://www.psrtutorial.com/sty/index.html

Usually it is specified that the style download file is for SFF1 or SFF2. Or you can deduce the SFF (1 or 2) from the arranger model: SFF2 has been implemented on all models produced from 2008 on:
-Clavinova CVP 500 series and later
-Tyros 3 and later
-PSR S710, S910, S650, ecc.  and later

But in the Styles section of PSR Tutorial you will also find a lot of SFF2 styles CONVERTED for SFF1 keyboards.

You just need to navigate, download files, try them...
