CVP 809 owners
« on: May 20, 2022, 08:50:49 AM »
Hi, I have a friend with a CVP 809 using the latest YRM  i tried to amend registrations to work  on the 809 without success.
Is there another 809 owner i can donate registrations to see if they work n theirs or any idea as to why they wont work.
PS They work on every other keyboard

Regards Colin

Hi Colin:

What version of YRM are you using?  The CVP809 is not currently part of the published program (YRM 5.1 Special).

Trying to amend a registration using any other target keyboard will be a problem, however you might find that using CVP709 as the target might work.

Also, it depends which keyboard the registrations are from?

Murray is quite correct (obviously, since he made YRM!), as all CVP's are backwards compatible, as long as you convert to 709/609/509 etc it will work on 809. In other words, if you change a registration to target CVP309, that registration *will* work on all subsequent CVP's. With 1 weird exception (CGP1000). For some reason, while CVP409 and earlier can be read on CGP1000, CGP1000 reg's *cannot* be read by any other CVP (which is odd since it's the same chipset as CVP409... why change the reg file?)

*However* not all sources are available (DGX670, PSRA5000, and while Genos registrations work up to 2.02, I don't know if anyone has checked to see if there are any differences in the header of a reg file from Genos 2.10, so that might also not be compatible)

very interesting why yamaha don`t make all models compatible is beyond me. cvp609 rgt work of sorts, 709 don`t they have scrambled sx700 and 900 its all strange.
PS love your channel great sounds.

I used to have a cvp709 loved it it had a internal mission impossible MIDI i couldn`t extract the midi, you wouldn`t have it would you ?
