custom INTRO1 issue ???
« on: May 11, 2022, 02:31:52 PM »
I have been creating Intro2, Intro3, Endings for song styles successfully.
Yesterday I tried creating multi bar Intro1.
Strange enough, Intro1 seems to remain intact, just one bar of drum beat.
I greatly appreciate ideas on how to go about this issue.

As far as I know, Intro1 is only one bar. That's the way it is.

I just did an experiment: copy MAIN-C (2 bars) to INTRO1, then edit INTRO1 on the keyboard (by playing a bass line). This works, I have a two bar INTRO1 that plays the bass line as I wanted.

Hmm... if you didn't change the length of Intro 1 to 2 bars, then it will simply have copied the 1st bar of Main C. You still need to change the pattern length (then execute), then copy to get both bars.

Fred: I'm pretty sure it was locked at 1 bar before (but not sure how long ago. CVP200 series? 300 series?). I just tried on an sx900, and Intro 1 can now be 32 bars long! Same on a Tyros 4 (which is from 2010!). I also assumed they were still locked to 1 bar, had it not been for this topic!

I think the answer is open style creator and set the bar length to whatever you want.  It may default to 1 bar, but as Mark says it can be up to 32 bars.

I use StyleMagic software to do this work, and the length of the Intro1 shows correct on the keyboard. But only drum tracks are heard.  Then I found that:
"copy MAIN-C (2 bars) to INTRO1, then edit INTRO1 on the keyboard (by playing a bass line). This works, I have a two bar INTRO1 that plays the bass line as I wanted"

No idea why. So I figure out that I had to create main-A for example from a MIDI file, then onboard, copy main-A to Intro1 (after adjusting its length to match with main-A length. Then copy main-A back from the original style.
Cumbersome but this works.
