Midi files -
« on: August 29, 2022, 10:22:31 AM »
Hallo,

Please post in English only, as we are an English speaking forum, Nosca.

The English translation follows:

Hello,I'll
start by traditionally saying that I'm new to this forum and know next to nothing about our PSR 3000. My wife and I bought it a few years ago but actually very little is done with it. Now I had thought I'm going to focus on it myself, but that turns out not to be so simple.

I have a whole bunch of midi files on my PC and I thought I would put them on a USB stick, put them in the keyboard and then play along with the midi file. Apparently, much more is needed than that and so I don't know how to go about it. Is it really possible to have the midi files of my PC read by my keyboard? If so, what should I do or should I purchase something extra in material? I try to go through this tutorial but despite the fact that it is very well drafted, it is a lot to read. Can someone explain my midi-file problem? Best thanks in advance.

My best regards,
Roger

Yes, you can play midi files on your keyboard.

For us to help, we need to know what your problem is. Is it locating the files? Loading a file? Getting one to play? Seeing the score so you can play along? Hearing the keyboard when playing along?

Your problem can be solved. We just need to know what it is.

Cheers,
Fred

The problem is that the PSR3000 is FAT16, not FAT 32... it will not read on any USB sticks over 2GB, so you'll need to find one under 2GB *or* find a smartMedia card, and download the final OS update (which *does* allow Fat 32).

Otherwise your PSR3000 will not be able to any USB 4gb or over. Same goes for any Yamaha from that era with a USB A port (up until 2005).

FAT stands for file allocation table, not chubby and overweight.
