Utilities registration composer
« on: March 17, 2022, 10:48:45 AM »
Hi there, I have just downloaded the Registration composer by Kim Winther but it doesn't cover genos. What a shame, it's really a great little programme for making new registration selections. Can anyone suggest something like it that covers genos.

This should do what you want to do.

Registration Manager Features

This program can be used for the following tasks:

Copying registrations from existing banks
Copying style and voice settings from existing banks

Editing settings contained in registration buttons
Sample styles and voices when keyboard is attached to computer
Add / Duplicate / Remove settings from registrations or bank(s)
Converting existing registrations to load on a different keyboard
Search for text in a registration bank or directory
Replace text in path names in a registration bank or directory
Preparing numerically organized registration banks (Gig Lists)
Creating new registration banks from Music Finder entries
Add OTS voice settings to registrations
Preparing reports on the contents of banks

Hi Bill, thanks for your reply. I have downloaded the programme, but it comes up with an exception and I think this is because the registrations in question were bought ones for the genos.
What I am trying to do is choose three buttons out of the set of ten, save them and make a new registration of just the three buttons I have chosen.  I am trying to do this with moving them to OTS at the moment, but it's all trial and error not having done this before.

Hi Marion

You will have to let us know what the Exception error was to comment further, However

Try to stay clear of the OTS - it is easier with registrations.  Having a mixture of OTS & Reg will just get confusing.

To copy Reg button 6 to Reg Button 2 as an example.

Load the registration - note if synch start is selected.

Push Reg button 6
Now push the Memory Button.
Now select which parameters you want. I prefer to select ALL the delate the ones i do NOT want.
Now push Button 2
Now push the Menu tab at the top of the screen and delete the Buttons you do not want and make any changes to the descriptions.

Now Save the Registration making sure you save under a different Name.

Did you download  the second program 5.1 special?   It's  needed to process Genos 2.0 registrations.

The program is designed to do exactly what you're planning.

Hi yes I downloaded the latest version.  When I press build a bank, so I can choose what to send over to save (hope i'm doing it right) it comes up with Structure of unknown keyboard...

Hi Marion,

Please carefully follow the instructions on the download site (at the bottom):
>>> https://psrtutorial.com/util/best.html

You must first download and install YRM version 5.11 (sometimes referred to as 5.1.1). Then download the "YRM Special" version and install this update exactly as described in the included Readme PDF file. When you then start the YRM program, "Version 5.1 Special" must appear in the main window at the bottom left. Only THIS version is compatible with Genos V2.x and PSR-SX900/700.

Best regards,
Chris

➪ Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that and just did it.
➪ Never put the manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

All this information is really useful, telling us what's NOT in the manuals, and so many thanks to you Chris. Only wish I could hire you for a few days ! You are an absolute star on these forums.
My folder of "stuff that's not in the manuals" is getting thicker day by day.

Just updated my own YRM and as you'll see, it's now all ready to use on my SX700 Big thanks.

Is there any way to copy this info to the SX900 and SX700 forum section, as i'm sure it woukld be of interest?

Keith

Murray's program was written when Genos OS 2.00 was current (2.02 didn't change the registration format at all) but if your Genos is v2.10, it's *possible* the registration header was changed slightly again.

Not having updated our Genos to 2.10, I don't know what differences, if any, there are to the Reg file.
