Remotely control Transpose function?
« on: February 22, 2022, 10:47:00 PM »
ok, I  am getting close to remotely control parameters for the PSR-S910 via Mobilesheets when playing live.

Parameters that need to be controlled:
1) Style choice,
2) Section control,
3) Tempo,
4) Style volumes of each part,  not for Mobilesheets, but Xtouch controller
5) Transpose

All except the Transpose function are working, thanks to the help provided by members of this board.  :)
Been struggling with transpose for hours over a few days, and not getting anywhere. So I must ask for help again.

Looking through the manual there seems to 7 methods to change the tuning by semitones.
Via Midi Message
1st Method: using Control Change RPN Coarse Tune Messages via Midi, (per one channel at a time)
2nd Method: from MIDI Parameter Change table (XG SYSTEM), Transpose function
3rd Method: MIDI Parameter Change table (MULTI PART Note shift)
Via Sysex
4th Method:  Master coarse tuning [GM2]
5th Method: Controller (Control Change) [GM2], per midi channel
6th Method: XG Parameter Changes, Transpose function (see method 2)
7th Method: MIDI Master Tuning

There may other commands that need to be sent for these to work, IDK.
So which is the best method to use, and how to use it?
Sincerely,
Dan

Anyone?

I've worked some more on this and haven't made any progress.

With all these possible functions, is there not one that works remotely?
Is it that the transpose function can't be altered remotely?

Unfortunately, this is one of the very few items that cannot be controlled with the foot pedals. Therefore, you are limited to using either a registration, or merely pressing the transpose button, which I never had a problem doing.

Most of the time when I used the transpose button, I was merely modulating up a half step or full step during a song to provide some added variety. Not at all difficult to do. On my aging PSR S950, it is situated just above the keys on the left side, which was relatively easy to access.

Wish I had better news for you,

Thanks for the reply travlin-easy!

I was beginning to suspect that, after having tried everything I could think of, with no success.

So transpose button it will be.

Weird that Yamaha didn't think to include that.
