NEW GENOS OWNER-HELP
« on: December 31, 2021, 01:37:37 PM »
Any help would be appreciated: The Yamaha manuals are greatly lacking in accurate step by step details on these items.

I am a previous Tyros 5 user who just received a Genos and have 2 main Questions:

1) I am having a hard time understanding how to save a Song (Midi file) from a USB Flash Drive to the Genos Hard Drive.
I scanned the forum and some people say this can't be done. I can't find actual steps to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

2) How do you copy Mixer changed settings. The manual seems to state 2 things you have to perform.
     a) Saving the "Mixer" "Panel" display
     b) Saving the "Mixer" "Song" display

Is this correct? Is there no way to change both?

I am having a hard time understanding "B". The manual says to do this in the "Setup" display, but doesn't reference where this is located.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rick

White illuminated knob  SONG on instrument, right.
In the menu, for example, press song1 and select user-usb you select a file. "File" - "Copy" at the top of the screen. "Copy" again.
Then go to User folder and press "Copy here". That's how it works for me.

A quicker method is to tap on Song A on the screen. This takes you to your song folders. Choose whether you want Audio or Midi songs listed (top of the screen) -- this is what trips up most people. Then go through the File>Copy process.

To Fred and metasarv.

Thanks so much for your help. GOT IT!. Many thanks: thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks

I eventually figured out how to save mix, and other settings. Now I just need to focus on how the Banks and Registrations work on Genos and I'll be pretty much set.

I hope you all have a Great New Year.

Thanks again. I really appreciate it.

Rick

Thanks Stijn.

I came across one of these videos to learn the Midi edit. I didn't realize there were more in a series.

Thanks you so much for your time and consideration.

Have a great year!

Rick

You're welcome Rick.

You can also learn a lot about Genos / Tyros from Mike Mixon's tutorials.

Welcome aboard, Rick. After watching the videos, feel free to ask specific questions here. Make sure your Subject line reflects the exact problem. It helps later on when someone else does a search for the same problem :).
"Learn" your music correctly, then "practice" it. Don't practice mistakes because you'll learn them.
