Mystery reverb or delay effects persisting in song registration
« on: December 12, 2021, 07:13:09 PM »
In some songs I have a rather dry vocal setting, in others there may be other minor effects such as chorus/flange/delay. However, I don't really know how these settings persist since I didn't set them intentionally. I have a mic setting that I created and saved and use on everything, which has no insertion effects. In my current registration, there's way too much reverb on the vocal and I really don't know where it's coming from.

I've gone through mic settings. Supposedly no insertion effect is on.
Was wondering if it was in the style somehow? Or coming from the harmony setting (which I am not using while singing)?
Have tried to make it go away by switching to another song registration. Normally this would work but now it's not.

You can set 4 different effects on the microphone at the same time. Insert effect, Master reverb, Master chorus and Internal effect from VH2.
Watch this video from 06:51 in which the effects are explained. Include English subtitles.

The simple solution is to turn freeze on for mic settings. Then registrations won't alter them.

The longer term solution is to re-memorize the offending registrations ensuring the microphone box is unchecked, so they won't alter your settings.

Cheers,
Fred

Hi SingerSongwriter,

When loading a MIDI song or a style, the system effects (Reverb and Chorus) are always set to the effect types used in the MIDI song / style.

This can also change the microphone sound. In order to rule out this, it is advisable not to use the mentioned system effects for the microphone. So just turn the Reverb and Chorus send controls all the way down and only use insert effects (mic effect / VH effect).

Best regards,
Chris

➪ Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that and just did it.
➪ Never put the manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

OK, I have finally seen that indeed it is the reverb on the song that affects the mic because when I turn it off, it's dry. Will try to follow advice in this thread to have mic not use system effects (if I can figure that out), thanks.
