Any New Genos owners tutorials being made?
« on: October 07, 2021, 09:20:02 AM »
All of us who have owned a Genos or for that matter any keyboard for a while have set it up to suit ourselves. When I first bought mine, moving up from PSR’s it seemed very complicated with a strange operating system, and it took me a while to work it all out. I found Keyboard America’s Mike Moxon videos a good starting point but If someone with a new keyboard asked me now to recommend a website to give them a good grounding, I think I would struggle to find one, Keyboard America is still there but no new videos for quite a while.  There must be some others knocking about that could be recommended. I know it’s all in the manuals but if you are just learning, it’s a bit overwhelming.

The YouTube channel Keyboard-Akademie is one that I regularly visit.
It's German spoken but with the subtitles switched on it's possible to follow the directions.
They have lots of tips and trics:  https://www.youtube.com/c/KeyboardAkademie

Another useful YouTube channel is this on:  Casper tutorSynth
Again, switch on the subtitles because this one is Croatian.

Hello.

I have some tutorials in my channel, but just for style creation - not the basic thing.
If you are interested, take a look at:

www.youtube.com/pedromseleuterio

The first two is in English and the third in Portuguese. All of them have English subtitles - make sure to turn them on (English is not my native language).

Enjoy.

Oldden,

These guys have some great tutorials but they are not free, they are great to get people started.  These are not made for advanced users.

Thank you all for your replies, and any more still to come.
My idea of the question was although I think that most of us who have had Genos for some time can find our way around , at least a bit. But for anyone who has just bought one or thinking of doing so, it would be a great help to them if a collection of useful links were all on one page instead of scattered about everywhere.

Hey Rick, these materials appear to be excellent based on the sample video on their website, but is it only available in German???  The website has a button in the upper right corner where you can select between German and English, but I don't know if the videos themselves have a version where they are speaking English.  Any idea?

Hello,

I'm not sure whether this qualifies as a proper way to post this kind of information, but I think it might help to other people, so I'll share it. I hope it won't be considered as "self-advertising" or something because its definitely not my goal.

I'm an amateur guy, don't even call myself a musician, not gigging or anything, but I'm a happy Genos owner and I like to learn new things about this keyboard in my free time.

My native language is Russian, so I've decided to publish some "home made" tutorials in Russian on youtube.

These videos, typically 10-15 minutes long, usually cover both "beginner's" topics (for instance yamaha filesystem), some intermediate stuff (registration memory, etc.) and pretty advanced stuff: Style Creator series of videos (work in progress) and integration with PC. They are not "professionally filmed" but to my taste are good enough to learn from them if one wishes to do so.

My approach is learning some topic by myself and then I make a video about it, currently everything is in Russian.

I haven't tried to make videos like this in English because there is quite a lot quality content in English, but in Russian - there is virtually nothing I'm aware of.

Here is a link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrz61_WyUdZfDtLRGT5lzmA

I also usually answer questions about these videos right on youtube.
Hope someone will find this helpful

Thanks and Regards,
Mark
