Fair price for a Tyros 3
« on: August 29, 2021, 03:15:09 AM »
A friend wants my backup Tyros 3 61 key with case. I see prices on line at $1300 plus. I don't think they will sell at that price. Curious - What is a fair price?

Regards,

Jerryghr

Hi.
Usually when I'm the seller, I think the fair price is what the market is willing to pay.
Maybe a look at eBay or a music store website that sell used keyboards will give a hint, but at the end, it probably boil down to what you feel you would be willing to pay if you was the buyer. 😊
Cheers 🥂

Hi  :

In my country ( The Netherlands ) a fair average price for a  Tyros3 in mint condition,
6 months warranty,  included = approx. USD. 1,000, - - without speakers and/or Tyros stand.

If  the original speaker set and Tyros stand are incl. = approx. USD 1,250,--.

Hope this information could be useful.

Good luck ! JH

Thanks for your feedback.

I think E bay and online sellers are asking too much for the board.
When they do sell you really don't know what they actually agreed on.

I guess I'll let my friend make an offer, and I will go from there.

I think it is a wise decision the potential buyer will bring out his offer first before you are making a final price.

IMHO you have an idea now what the present value of your T3 is.

Hope buyer and seller will both be happy with the final price.

It would be interesting to let us know if you and your friend could finally make a deal. 😃

All the best🤞,  JH

The price has to do with supply and demand as always (depending on where you live).
As of Sep-2021, new Yamaha keyboards such as SX700 / SX900 and Genos are NOT AVAILABLE for sale, and older models (used) that are for sale are in very low quantity. Probably due to players cannot buy new ones to upgrade and must stick with their current ones (I am one of them, waiting to buy a Genos to replace my Tyros3).
As long as the new models are still NOT AVAILABLE for sale, older boards may be listed for much higher prices.
On Reverb for example, a T3 is listed for 1800-2200$. Could not find an used T5 / S970 / S975 anywhere.

Yes, that is the present situation.
We have to live with it.
It is what it is.

I wonder if it is not better to keep what you have for the time being.

Jeff - He is not changing - it is a just back up he is thinking of selling to a friend.

Jerry - if it is really a friend just ask them what they are willing to pay. If its close to what makes you happy do a deal. If its way too low, just tell him that after giving it some thought you have decided you should keep a back up keyboard just in case. Saves any  unpleasant money discussion with a friend.

Hi Mike,

Since my friend is just looking for home use, and not gigging, the price is out of his range.

It is a still good backup for me if I ever need one, which would probably be a week after I sold it.

I am in the same boat, playing my T3 for 12 years now and still working like a new one, never had any hick-up.
I would not sell my T3 for less than 1500$ (which is less than the price of a new SX700).
Tyros have large buttons, well lighted, with sliders, much easier to control during live play.
The smaller boards use up/down buttons instead of sliders (I have played many of these at friends house), pretty slow to control during live play.
Even if I get a new Genos, my T3 will be my backup for gigging. Many friends of mine want to buy my T3 once I get a Genos.
