To early to worry. When Windows 10 was announced, MS released several hardware compatibility lists and none of my CPU's was on it, at that time. Later they added quite some hardware to the list. And I even have Win10 running on hardware which is still not officially supported.

Please guys, stop worrying about an anounced version, which will take several months to arrive, and of which the specs and pre-reqs are not set in stone yet. Just wasting your energy and a fairly useless discussion at this moment

I’ve got a laptop which had Microsoft Vista on it when I bought it. It then had seven, then eight …total rubbish… now it happily runs windows 10 with the latest updates. What happens, happens, just forget it for now and get back to our keyboards.

Interesting, Roger. So far, most of what they're pushing, is eye candy; although, the Restore button offers some excellent options.

There's lots of bricks and mortar that needs to be simplified such as their ridiculous security scheme. It still confuses the daylights out of me. For example, to stop Windows from asking you, "Are you sure you want this program to make changes to your computer" every time, you must invoke a setting in the User Account area that is NOT recommended by MS!! Why can't we just have a button where we can turn that nonsense off like in Win98? End of this rant ;).

I won't talk about their Word program!

Hi
I have tested both my computers , One for music and one for general use on the internet.
I tested it with the microsoft Win 11 compatibility program and it did not reach the standard for Win 11.
So Windows 10 will be unsupported in 2025 which will make my machine  9 years old by then.
I consider for the £400 pound that i had paid for it, a brilliant run for the money.

My music machine Is a I7, 8 core 32 gig ram and is 3 years old now
This machine complies to the standard that Windows 11 needs.
I consider if i get 6 to 7 years out of it, that is value for money.
I did pay £1600 for it especially built for music and it is lightning fast. I may get away with changes later if sent back to Computer Specialists, for a refit

I have also made system images of the drives , so when i get any new machine ,i can image those.

Most electronic goods have a rough time for lasting and computers and the luck i have had with them on average is 5 years before they start coughing or something starts to go.
I just hope the Genos last now until the next one, but the genos is built little better than a computer Tower or laptop. :)

All the Best
John                Come on England, they wacked the Ukraine, but i think Denmark are the dark horses in the Euro tournament.
What has this to do with the Genos ::) ---NOTHING!!!! ;D 8) ::) :P :-* :)

All the Best
John

There have been a few reports of folks on a few boards having issues of ASIO drivers for interfaces not loading or functioning under Windows 11. Anyone here experienced problems with their audio interface not working under Win11 if it uses a manufacturers ASIO driver?

When new OS's come out, it takes them (Microsoft) awhile to sort out the bugs, from received feedback from users.  That's why computers used in music production, recording studios etc... tend to run on slightly older OS's which are more 'stable,' since many of the initial bugs have been fixed.

Agreed. I use a Steinberg UR-44 interface for my recording. I'll definitely wait until either Steinberg or MS confirm that the UR-44 ASIO driver works in Windows 11 before I switch over ;).

As I said before I will not install win11 as soon as it is available.
I prefer to wait ( at least ) a couple of months.

I think it is too risky for me and win10 updates are available for the next 4 years.

No reason to be nervous. 🤓

Best regards, JH

It's important to keep in mind that Win11 has not been released in final form, and ready today  --- it's still all in "beta testing" mode.
Developers and "Windows Insiders" received the first cut of the software, and the general public can try it out (if they so choose!) in another week or so.

And this continues to be a moving target, Microsoft quickly started back-pedaling on the hardware requirements, and pulled their PC health checker app.
After reading a lot of the techie forums, it appears that the software driver system is the same as Win10, so audio interfaces "should" work OK. But there are always unknowns and surprises, so as many here have stated.......  let the beta testers pull out their hair, and wait to upgrade if your PC qualifies until after the dust settles.  LOL 8)

I'll pass along the latest article (July 4) which I think, is a very clear headed, and realistic, summary of the current status, and seems quite fair and balanced from both sides, and not overly technical.        https://www.xda-developers.com/windows-11-defending-system-requirements/

Hi

I am prepared for changes, but my computer still complies to the coming Windows 11 standard
My Focusrite drivers may fail, but i am still on the first generation as the company kept up with the drivers compatibility.
Well the unit is 5 years old , so for another £200 for a new one seems fair enough.
Software will always have to be updated and will cost to keep up with the times.
As someone said , "You can't take it with you"
Think of the money that you have saved by staying at home during covid. ::)

I always thought that the Genos speakers were like a pair of kids toy speakers, so i spent £1000 on a Yamaha brand new self active ones.
These hold a 5 year guarantee and will last well over 10years. The quality is astounding.
By my reckoning i will save in the long run as the next three Genos, i will not have to fork out for the speaker package and by then a £1000 would be spent.
I found it a no brainer to get decent stuff. Always worth it :)
