Wood Block Multipad

(1/1)

Donna P:
Is anyone aware of a wood block multipad?  Thanks.

Hi Donna P,

I'm not aware of an existing "Wood Block" Multi Pad. But you can easily create one yourself using the "Multi Pad Creator" (MIDI Multi Pad Recording). Please refer to the section "3 Multi Pads" in the Genos Reference Manual, from page 60.

You can download the latest Genos Reference Manual here:
>>> https://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/arranger_workstations/genos/downloads.html#product-tabs

Load a suitable Drumkit which contains the desired Wood Block sound in the Right 1 part and record then your Multi Pad either in real time or using the Step Edit display. (You can also use the Step Edit display use to edit the note events that you recorded in real time before.)

If you want to create a looped MIDI Multi Pad ("Repeat" function is ON), I recommend to go into Step Edit after a real time recording and check the position of the "End" marker. The correct position of the "End" marker is at tick (clock) position "1919" of the last beat of the last measure before the loop should start. This is because one quarter note is divided in 1920 "ticks" (written as "1920 PPQ").

Example (Step Edit display) for a 4/4 Multi Pad wich 2 looped measures (0001, 0002) and one note on each beat (1, 2, 3 4):

First measure:    0001 : 1 : 0000      Note
                  0001 : 2 : 0000      Note
                  0001 : 3 : 0000      Note
                  0001 : 4 : 0000      Note
Second measure:   0002 : 1 : 0000      Note
                  0002 : 2 : 0000      Note
                  0002 : 3 : 0000      Note
                  0002 : 4 : 0000      Note
End marker:       0002 : 4 : 1919      End

P.S.
In many Preset Drumkits you can find Wood Block sounds on the E5 and F5 keys. You can also find a "Plastic Wood Block" sound in some Kits. The exact key mapping of all Drumkits can be found in the Genos Data List (section "Drum/SFX Kit List").

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris
