Hi Bob,

there are also many SX900 videos on the main YT channel of the Yamaha corporation ("Yamaha_Global"):

Best regards,
Chris

Hi..... having previously owned a Genos prior to my SX models ...I find many of the Genos demos which are available VERY helpful as Genos shares the same OS and many of the same control features as the SX.

Reply to overover. So, the guy doing the demo can play a keyboard. All well and good but, like all the other demo's on this YT page, they give very little info. Ok for the experienced play I guess, but not much use to a beginner. Or, has the guy doing the demo lost his voice?

To be fair, these Yamaha videos are not intended to be tutorials. They are demonstrations of what is possible. Then you delve into the keyboard, read manuals, look at tutorials, ask questions here. And most important of all - experiment. It’s hard to do damage on these keyboards, so often best learning is just to try things, then ask specific questions here if you get stuck.

I was similarly looking for video tutorials of the SX900.  I've definitely seen all the YT ones linked to here (and some are really helpful).  I purchased a pack of videos and written materials from the shop I purchased the keyboard from.  It was designed for the Genos (and people moving from a Tyros), so parts aren't helpful.  A lot of it is!  And I personally like watching a video over reading instructions.  I don't know if I'm allowed to endorse anything on here - so I'll just say it was one of the main shops in the UK.

After I'd purchased that, I discovered this sight, and then was directed to the Lessons area.  That has been hugely helpful.  If I'd seen the Lessons here first, I may not have purchased the videos from the shop.

I too wish that Yamaha did more.  Some of their demo people obviously can play and know their way around the keyboard.  A demo is different than a tutorial - and I wish they would produce more tutorials.

When looking for help or tutorials, on these arrangers it’s better to be specific. There are so many features and possibilities on these keyboards, that you really have to narrow it to get help eg I am looking for information on how to set up registrations, or how to create styles, or how to record etc. Even better, try to do what you want, then post here where you are getting stuck. Eg I am trying to record a song but when I try to play it back the file is empty? This way you likely will get quick help and make progress.
It is tempting to just think I want to learn everything about them but it doesn’t work well like that. Master basic functions, then move on to other things. The knowledge will build.

Video demo's are a great help to many people. The written word is OK for some, but some people can explain very clearly and other not so well. To actually see what is being expressed is for many the better way to learn. However, a well presented video takes time and can be costly. Reading from these pages has been a great help to me since I purchased the SX900 and will say I am grateful to all those who take the time and effort to post their knowledge to help others.
