Geno's backing track recording
« on: March 25, 2021, 02:03:53 PM »
I have bought a few backing tracks which are excellent and I'd like to record playing along with them, however I've tried recording a few times and the backing tracks do not record.
If I can't do this directly on the Genos, what's the best way to go about it..?

I assume that the backing track is an audio ?
You cannot play and record simult. audio on Genos.
I do record this on the PC with "digital Out" from Genos to "digital IN " on PC.
Anny extern recorder can do the job.

Can you explain this in more detail please?

Actually, you can do this on Genos but *only* if you are recording Audio, not recording MIDI.

Open the Song Player, set song A to Audio and load up the audio file. Then press Recording, and select Audio Quick Recording.

Touch the buttons on the screen to start recording, press 'play' on the panel for Song A, and then play your part along with it. Both the audio and your playing will end up in the new recorded file.

Mr.Gary,
sorry I did not know that it was possible to play and record an audiofile simult.on Genos.
I tried it like Derek A explained, and it worked out.

Thank you DerekA, your comment is very usefull, again I learned something new.

I was a little confused because often I play midi and audio backing track simult.
then I record both to the PC.

Mr. Gary,

You shouldn't have any problem recording audio regardless of whether your backing tracks are midi or audio (this would have been useful information to put in your first post).

If you're trying to record midi, you can't do that regardless of whether your tracks are midi or audio. If they're audio, and you try recording midi, the track will not record as you found out.

So the solution to your problem is to record audio, not midi.

Cheers,
Fred

.......or if you want to record midi and audio together > by extern recorder.
