Hi Dom,

import all desired Packs into your YEM (using "My Packs > Import Pack" or using "drag & drop" from the Windows Explorer).

Then click on your Install Target "PSR-SX700" and make sure that all Packs are de-selected.

Now select only one Pack at a time to see its so called "Voice Wave size".

Select several Packs to see if their Voice Wave size (the left value) is still below the maximum value.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Bob,

you don't need to register on that Brazilian Yamaha site: Just use the direct download links provided by Argento in the second post of this thread. :)

I used Google Translate to translate the product description of these Packs into English:

New Brazilian Expansion Packs "Pop Brasil" and "Ritmos do Sul"

Hi all,

there are two new Brazilian Expansion Packs for PSR-SX900/700/600 and Genos:

"Pop Brasil" only contains 5 Styles (no Voices).
"Ritmos do Sul" (SX900/700/Genos versions) contains 5 Styles, 5 Drumkits and 22 Voices. (See also the attached pictures.)

Alvaro (Argento) kindly updated his post above (Reply #1) and added the download links for the two new Packs:
>>> https://www.psrtutorial.com/forum/index.php/topic,58734.msg455095.html#msg455095

Note: The SX600 version of the "Ritmos do Sul" Pack is much smaller than the SX900/700/Genos versions. Presumably, Yamaha has significantly reduced the content here for reasons of storage space.

Have fun! :)

Best regards,
Chris

I think it's great that they are continuing to support their *current* product. More so than most brands. As a PSRs970 owner, it's sad that my model was discontinued late 2017 (you could argue early 2019 since the s975 was the same chipset and hardware, but either way it's been over 2.5 years since it was the current product). But they're job is always to sell you new instruments, and they encourage that by supporting the new ones.  Do you think people who bought PSRs950's (and s650/s750) were disappointed to learn that the new YEM system doesn't work on theirs? Sure. But most were encouraged by either the psr970/975 line or even the newer sx line being able to put *so* many downloadable sounds into them.

They supported the s970 right up until the beginning of 2021. Not too bad for a product launched in 2015.  :) But like myself, if I want the new packs on my keyboard, I'll need to get something newer. The 512mb is kind of too small now anyway.

I still own a PSR60 from 1985 (which slid down a flight of concrete stairs, suffered all sorts of cosmetic damage, but still works!!) and a Roland E20 from 1988. I'm certainly not expecting Roland to start up production again of those custom style pack cards! Or My DX7's sound cartidges (of which I still own 4).

Hi Chris, i've tryed to instal this pack on my psr SX900, and the pack isn't working! Perhaps the files must be corrected by Yamaha; all the best Patrick

Yes, you are right, Patrick: I just tried to import the SX900 .cpf file of the "Norte Brasil" Pack into my YEM, and it also failed with the error message "The pack could not be imported because there is no instrument capable of using this pack."

I don't own an SX900 and use a relatively old SX900 .n27 file (from 2018) in my YEM. It may only work with a current .n27 file (?)

>>> Have you installed the latest Firmware version (1.05) on your SX900, and you have exported the Instrument Info file (.n27) again from the SX900 after the Firmware installation and re-imported it into the YEM?

If this does not help, the SX900 .cpf file provided by Yamaha is probably faulty and Yamaha will replace it soon.

Chris

Hi Chris, packs are imported without problem except this pack; yes i've updated my SX900 and have the last YEM update too! Have a nice day, thanks Patrick

Hi Patrick,

I am currently using YEM V2.8.1, but it should also work with V2.7.0. And so far I have also been able to import all other SX900 .cpf Packs into my YEM (as I said, with an old .n27 file from 2018).

>>> As asked above, did you re-export the Instrument Info file (.n27) after installing firmware 1.05 and re-import it into the YEM? If not, I recommend doing this now (delete the previous SX900 Install Target in the YEM beforehand).

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Chris, yes for instrument info file but same result, pack couldn't be imported!
Thanks, all the best Patrick

Ok, then Yamaha will soon provide a new .cpf file for the SX900, with which this error no longer occurs. I suggest we wait a few days, then download the SX900 version again.

Chris

Hi all,

To have everything in one thread, here are the direct download links again for the "CARNAVAL BRASIL" Pack:

GENOS (.cpf size: 40.3 MB): https://download.yamaha.com/files/tcm:39-1553975
PSR-SX900 (.cpf size: 40.3 MB): https://download.yamaha.com/files/tcm:39-1553978
PSR-SX700 (.cpf size: 40.3 MB): https://download.yamaha.com/files/tcm:39-1553977
PSR-SX600 (.cpf size: 13.2 MB): https://download.yamaha.com/files/tcm:39-1553976

Note: The Packs are in the protected .cpf format, so they can only be used on the respective model.

By the way, each download also includes a .cpi (Pack Install) file. This allows you to install the Pack in question directly on the instrument (without using the YEM). But be careful: All previous Expansion content will be deleted when installing a .cpi!
