foot pedal for registration sequence
« on: February 09, 2021, 11:31:26 AM »
Hello
I am a complete beginner and have been given a SX700 for my 80th.birthday!
I am finding my way around it with the help of the tutorials, but can you suggest a suitable foot switch to alter the registrations in sequence?
I know Yamaha do one but it is a bit expensive - would a cheaper variety be OK for occasional use? They all seem to be advertised as Sustain - is this the right switch and what is the difference between latched and unlatched?
Sorry for mi ignorance - any help would be appreciated.
Frank

Frank,

I have tried the cheap versions, the one I had would often trigger a couple of times with switch bounce, it was useless to be fair.  The Piano type seem ok, but are a bit tall for my preference.

Hi Frank.

I use a Yamaha fc5 pedal.
it does the job well

do a search on the net??
I think maybe a cheaper one would work OK?

But You could find the Yamaha for a decent price.?

Hello Frank,

I have tried a few pedals but the Yamaha FC5 suits me best. It is much lower than the piano type pedals so it does not make your ankle ache and I have found it to be very reliable. The use of a pedal to change registrations is definitely the way to go.  Good luck with your search and enjoy your music!
