Topic: Synth Button - New Folders Found

On my PSR-S770, I was going through the Voice >> Synth folder, which I had not often done previously. I found that if you pressed the Synth button, followed by the "Up" button, I found folders that I had never seen before.

Specifically, there were folders named "Legacy", "Mega Voices", "GM & XG", and "GM2". Some I believe are duplicates from other folders. But some are new to me.

Does anyone know the story behind these Voice Folders?

Hi Jim,

The GM, GM2, and XG folder can only be viewed if accessed via SONG. You can't see when open Right 1, 2.
But they can therefore be "taken out" in USER as vocie and are always available to us.

They contain voices from previous keyboards, and you can find them in all cathegories. Many fine voices here, so it is well worth listening to them and use them😀

I found that out on my SX700 about 2 weeks again. I did not save in register, I simply wanted to test them out and kept them in my favorite. I did find that on my keyboard, the Tenor Sax sounds like it is alternating between the  Bold Tenor and almost next to the Ballad Tenor Sas  when it decides to express some volume.  So on my keyboard the others like the Brass, Piano and Guitar seem to play ok, but the Tenor Sax not sure why they even put it in the MEGA voice if it seems to have compatibility issues. Good find though for the keyboards that they do work on.

The MegaVoices are designed for use within styles. They produce different sounds depending on the velocity. It's a way of making a style part using those instruments more expressive. The are specifically *not* intended to be played live on the keyboard.
