Hi Ken,

the SX900 don't have a Audio Multi Track Recorder (like Genos or Tyros5). So if you already have an Audio recording, you cannot add an additional track.

But you can use the MIDI Recorder first to record your playing. Then play back that MIDI file and record it by the Audio Recorder while singing your vocals. :)

Best regards,
Chris

➪ Never put the manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

An alternative way is to record WAV files and use the multipad audio-link function.
I've used this method already and it works well.

I have the same problem with this. Does anyone has video tutorial on how to do it? Sorry, new SX900 user here. Thank you all.

Simple, as stated by Chris

 1. Recording Button > MIDI Quick Recording > Record and save as Midi

 2. Player Button> Select recorded Midi file (or any other midi file)

 3. Recording button > Select Audio Recording / Quick Recording.

 4. Audio Recording Screen > Select Record >  Midi button > Select  Play

 5. Sing or play along while Audio recoding is recording

 4. The mix will be recorded and automatically saved as an MP3 or Wave

Summary: Play a midi file while simultaneously recording an audio file

You can record your vocal with karaoke mp3 track using mic in Yamaha SX900
First contact your mobile with your SX900 keyboard with Bluetooth.
Also attach usb with keyboard where your recording will be recorded.
Now attach mic with keyboard and play your mp3 from your mobile.
Your mobile music will be played in the keyboard.
Now press Audio Recording button of keyboard start recording by pressing Record Audio in the keyboard display.
While you listen your mobile music, you can also singalong music.
Stop recording your song with your music and your recording will be recorded in the usb attached.
You can only record your vocal with mobile music in Bluetooth attach.

Hi

My question is in the same ball park but slightly different and maybe my SX900 needs some additional equipment...

How can I record a vocal alongside the playing or playback of a midi file recorded on the SX900 - BUT keep it seperate so it can be later balanced etc

I understand that the vocal track can be output on the sub outputs so available separately

Then I would need a multitrack 4 channel (2 x stereo) digital audio recorder to capture both the music and vocal separately

But is there an easier (i.e. cheaper) way?
