On Tyros 5 you can only put one USB at a time into the drive.. can anyone suggest
a way to use more sticks, to me this is a backward step.

To imitate a real switch shall work
Try a usb hd 2.5  with all data on it then you have never to change it

I thought you meant a Hub, and called it a switchbox,   I have tried Hubs. so now I will
try to buy a Usb Switchbox
That would solve my problem.

it is small enough to give it a place on your keyboard

there are 2 USB sockets on Tyros 5, one at the rear and one at the front, so you can use 2 USBs at the same time.

Actually, a USB hub does work, but the Tyros will recognize only two inserted USBs.

But with the storage capacity of the hard drive, what do you need USB drives for?

I use USB Flash Drive to collect my Forum Style downloads which I then edit or delete.
The ones I wish to keep I then transfer to my T5 76 HD.
PS. My PC is not near the keyboard !!!

On the Tyros6 you have two USB ports, one in back and one in the front. You can use both, they will come up as USB1 and USB2, just tab between them. The T5 also has a huge harddrive, 500GB!, so no need to have a lot of USB sticks really

So no, it does not work from a functional point of view because it does not make any sense to put a hub in between when only one drive will work. It only works from a technical point of view, but without added functionality, only extra power consumption. And that was not the question from PJ

Yes, but in my case, one is dedicated in use by the wifi adapter. I only use the HDD for temparary storage for audio recordings. I store registrations, styles etc. on a USB drive because it is quite cumbersome to backup the internal HDD.

Yes you are right there are already pens with 128 gb
Make a dir boom for your data like for styles voices etc. on the pen
And swiching between pens take some time also with a switch box
the first pen must be disconnect  and the second pen need to be connect manual or virtual

Backing up the hard drive is simple in USB storage mode (power on + music finder).

There is a better way
remove the hd from the keyboard keep it outside
connect it with the front usb poort or connect it with you pc to transfer data
Or use a usb swich box to spare the usb poorts
I use a very small usb hd 1.8 (the models they use in notebooks)
and give it a place on the keyboard

I find backing up a USB stick just as cumbersome, so as the annoyance is the same, I prefer the convenience of the hard drive.

By the way, to get back to normal mode on a Tryos, you don't have to reboot. Just press the Exit button.

And what does the T5 do  when you press exit? Right, it reboots...

Rebooten is not good for your keyboard
When you start up a condensater loads up to buffer the power piek
When you shut off the condensater releas his power slowly
You have to wait a short time before restart to give the condensater time to unload
A friend of my did a fast restart on a gig
the keyboard broke down i had to save him with bringing him my keyboard

But it’s not a power on/off cycle, so it’s easier on the instrument.

Possible damage was a critical remark from Janus, not from me. I think you are right, because it is a soft reboot and the power is not interrupted.
