may I introduce myself
« on: July 25, 2020, 02:32:29 PM »
Hello everyone

From 8 years organ lessons for 4 years, on an Eminent organ.
Purchased a PSR630 in 1999. That takes some getting used to when you have played the organ.
But actually not that much music made since the purchase of that keyboard.
After all these years on the back burner, I now seriously want to resume the thread in music.
In time I want to buy a new top model keyboard. But before then I want to gain knowledge through this forum.

To start with: Is there still music and especially rhythms that match the PSR630?
So that I can get used to it, and then look for a newer keyboard.

I just read Pete1959's post. I can start with the answer.

Greetings
Armand

Hi Armand,

Welcome to the Forum.

The Eminent Organ was a nice instrument and I played one myself for a short time.

I’m sure you will enjoy the advice and friendliness of the guys and gals here.

I live in UK in a place called Walsall.

Kind regards

Hi Armand,
welcome to the forum,
I think it will be rather difficult to load styles(rhythms) to the psr 630.
You will need a computer that can read floppy discs and even so if you load styles from other (older) keyboards they may sound not good at all.

There are basically two types of keyboards that you need to look for.
The psr E series and the psr S which now is called psr SX series.

In Yamaha psr E series you have 2 mains and a limit to load only very few new styles.
In Yamaha psr S or SX you can load any style that you can find or even create.

Of course these two series have differences between them also on how many preset sounds and styles they have, functions, the keybed ,speakers etc.

Hello, Armand.

Nice to hear from you! Welcome to the Forum. This website (and this forum) is the best repository about Yamaha Keyboards you can find.
Sure you can get some styles in the hundred pages of the website.

I had a lot of PSR keyboards before, including the PSR-730 (closer than your model), and I loved it. To the full history, check my performer page at: https://www.psrtutorial.com/perf/pedroEleuterio.html

Now I'm with the flagship Genos, as you can watch in my YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/pedromseleuterio

I'm sure you will hear how fast the sound quality increased in the newer keyboards.

I hope you enjoy the forum and share your skills too.

Regards from Brazil,
Pedro Eleuterio
