Adding additional acoustic piano sounds
« on: July 24, 2020, 07:22:24 PM »
Ultra newbie here.  Just got my Genos and loving it.

When I first fired up the keyboard I saw 5 pages of acoustic piano sounds.  I'm wondering about the ability to expand the onboard sounds with additional sounds.  Are there extra sounds available for purchase?  I'm looking for some mellow grands, maybe some pianos with heavy reverb and delay built in, etc.

Thanks,
Robert

You can't expand the internal ROM memory, but you can add new sound with Expansion Packs.
Your Genos has, after the latest update, almost 4 GB of flash RAM memory for new sounds from Expansion Packs.
I personally don't know if any 3rd party has any expansion packs with acoustic pianos, as far as I know Yamaha doesn't have any for sale.
So do a quick search and maybe you can find what are you looking for.

You can add as much reverb and delay as you like by editing the onboard pianos if that is the main requirement. Although if you also want the overall quality of sound and presence to be nearer to that of a real piano it may be worthwhile to research the availability of 3rd party sampled pianos for Genos, having first spent some time seeing what can be done with the Genos voice editor to improve the existing pianos (and become aware of its limitations).

I bought the 3 Grand Pianos pack from here and I'm very happy with it:

The Kawai EX is my first choice piano for any slow pieces.

Cheers

Kawai is the best sounding grand piano in the world...not just in these samples..
Thats why i am in the process of adding a kawai stage piano to my Genos..

For even better quallity grand piano’s check CMS sounddesign.
They are 1 GB or 500 MB in size.. this pack is 500MB for 3 piano’s..
