PSR SX990? Truth or fake?
« on: June 21, 2020, 11:43:53 AM »
I saw this video on youtube, and I'm suspicious if it's really true. Does anyone have any extra information?

Strange that the lowest octave looks a different colour ...almost blue?

i have heard nothing about the release of 76 XS...why would they with Genos?? it would kill sales on that IMHO

For my money, it's somebody having a joke....but who knows

The shadows in the USB slot don't change as the light moves around. This is a printed picture of a Genos with the SX900 panel in the middle and an extra USB slot to fill up the gap.

And here I thought it looked real.

There's clearly a light shining down from above, but the circular area of light doesn't encompass the full width of the keyboard, hence the appearance of a different color in the keys to the left and right sides.

The phone-- or whatever is being used to take the video-- doesn't have a light shining from it, hence the lit-up and shadowed portions of the keyboard don't move about as the camera is moved about.

But the lettering and everything else sure looks real to me.

Whenever someone comes out with these photos or videos of a new model of keyboard, a lot of people cry "fake"-- and sadly, some of them are fakes. But some of them do turn out to be real.

So there's no way to be certain until time reveals whether this one is real or fake.

But if it's real, I'm wondering why Yamaha would choose to call this model a "990," which doesn't seem to leave much room for future model numbers.

Even if it’s real, I wouldn’t trade just for 76 keys, assuming all else is the same.  It would need improvements/features, more and improved styles, voices, etc…

I'll buy it just for that wonderful fact, saves a lot of power, and I can play out in the forest! :) :) :)

I have a big ideal of a fake video...
I think like Francesco Massa (Ciao Francesco).
Is a photo taken with the phone and modificated whit graphhic program.
You can see it when the mobile passes over the speakers, they are flattened, while there should be some play of shadows when the LED light moves on them ...
And then, It doesn't make sense, that Yamaha go out now with this phantomatic sx990 (?! ) ... Don't worry, even if for a momentI shivered because I took the sx900 only two months ago LOL ;)

At least they went back to the aluminum - silver vol. and selector wheels!

IMO this is a troll having some fun. ...but I'd love to have 76 keys on my SX900, as is without any of the Genos extra features! -Ed L.

What is it with these idiots that put this rubbish out. I would be more than surprised if you ever got a 76 note key bed other than in the Flagship model.

Oh @EileenL, don't get setup about fake news. The internet is full of it. The simple fact that 'people' react to this is a reward for many fake news spreaders to continue. I have no problem with it, as there are 'worse' topics that have misleading content on more important (global) issues than a keyboard. One could 'worry' about it or just ignore it?
My best regards,

Pretty sure that's fake.

  • The buttons aren't distributed well towards the extreme left/right side.
  • The textures aren't seamless towards the extreme left/right side.
  • 2 USB slots in front? - not likely at all.

P.S. I'd rather have a 61 key version of Genos.

If it is fake I am just amazed why anyone would want to spend the time and effort to do this. It has no purpose. I suppose I am inclined to believe it’s either real or perhaps a mock up photo that Yamaha made to see what it would look like and leaked out. Of course I am probably wrong, because I suppose there are people in the world who get some kind of kick from spending their time on something so trivial, stupid and useless - just glad I don’t know any.

How about PSR-670 successor SX600. I really don't like Medeli AKX10 alternative.

Hi , do you realize that like the creator of the fake photo, you are now spreading fake news!? Making an innocent fake keyboard photo is in a different proportion than the example you used. Please slow down and don't get excited. In any case my last contribution to this discussion. Just saying ;-)

Maybe Yamaha solved the problem of blocking the sx900 with the new version of fireware 1.05?

Not related to the original thread but talking about the white SX900 Dnj mentioned, I think the white SX900 would look a whole lot cleaner if they turned the buttons, knobs, and the speaker grill as well to white instead of just the chassis. Just like this white Clavinova.

This one also fake but look quite real.

Photoshop work. When they opposite or negatively the black colour,  they forget to fine tune the shadow on both assign knobs.  The darker colour become brighter when shift from positive to negative.

Or have a Screen on the SX900 called Tetris and play that song on the keyboard at the same time.  ;) ;) ;) ;)  ;D ;D. That's pretty cool. I like it!
