Genos Superior Pack styles - can I extract these?
« on: June 13, 2020, 01:12:43 PM »
The 50 Superior Pack styles are stored in expansion memory and I installed them there via the .cpf file which is protected.

Is there any way I can extract them from the .cpf file or from the keyboard?

If so, what program can I use?

Cheers

Hi Chris,

you can NOT extract Styles from .cpf or .cpi files (but only from .ppf or .ppi files).

But you CAN:

1. Load an Expansion Style and SAVE it to a folder outside the Expansion folder or onto a USB stick. Do this (one by one) for all Expansion Styles you want to "copy".

or

2. Connect the USB-to-Host terminal of the Genos to your computer via a USB type AB cable. Then boot the Genos into "USB Storage Mode" (by pressing "Playlist" button while powering on).

On your computer, the Genos User drive should be accessible now as a new "removable drive". Go to "Expansion" folder and open the corresponding subfolder of the desired Pack. Now you can select and copy e.g. all the Styles in the current folder (to a folder on your computer if, desired, directly onto a USB stick that is connected to the computer).

P.S.
Do NOT move or delete any files inside the Expansion folder!

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

➪ Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that and just did it.
➪ Never put the manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

Hi Chris

That's excellent thanks. Much appreciated.

Funnily enough, I did think of the first option but saw that 'Copy' was greyed out so I assumed I couldn't get them off the Genos.

It's strange you can 'Save' rather than 'Copy'. Also frustrating that you can only save one at a time.

Anyway, I used option 2 which worked much quicker!

Cheers

Chris
