PSR-SX700 touchscreen problem
« on: May 18, 2020, 07:13:57 PM »
Hi

The touchscreen is on , I can press the styles or voices buttons and the screen changes but there is no response to the touch.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a quick fix available?

Kind Regards

Jimbo

Did you have a USB stick connected to it when the problem happened? Or pedals? Sometimes that can make problems. Hope it doesn't happen again, but if it does, power off, disconnect everything and power on again.

Calibrate your display by going to Menu > Utilities > Display

It is well worth calibrating your screen. I did mine when I first got my Genos and SX900.

I'm wondering how to calibrate the screen on my SX900

Hi YammyFan,

this can be done at "Menu > Utility > Touch Screen/Display > Touch Screen > Calibration". Please see also the SX900 Reference Manual, page 130, download here:

➪ Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that and just did it.
➪ Never put the manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

hm... what do I do if the screen isn't respoding at all? I can press the physical Menu button, but can't press any of the on-screen categories. Yes I've tried the basic system reset to no avail.

thanks,

Mark

Hi, I had this problem with my 8 month old instrument.
I had  to return it to Yamaha and they replaced the touch screen.
Not very good for an expensive instrument which looks like it has a generic fault.
My instrument was made in Indonesia of that helps.

Hi Mark,

I recommend that you first call up the internal Test program and run the test/calibration routine for the touch screen. Feel free to PM me for details.

If the problem cannot be resolved by recalibrating using the internal Test program mentioned, it could be due to a loose internal cable connection, for example. If you have some experience in electronics, you could open the keyboard yourself and check the cables/connectors in the display area. Here, too, I could send you the relevant detailed information.

Otherwise, I recommend having the instrument checked at an authorized Yamaha service point.

Best regards,
Chris

Yes please; thanks Chris! I'd like to investigate further; it *does* work, and I've recalibrated it, but *only* after it's been on a few hours. From cold startup? every single time, the touchscreen doesn't respond at all  :-\

in other words it wasn't the calibration,

Hi Mark,

Did you calibrate the SX touch screen via the normal Menu (as I >>> originally described) or via the internal Test program? In your case, I strongly recommend using the Test program mentioned.

Best regards,
Chris
