Intros when step recording Chords
« on: May 13, 2020, 11:10:28 PM »
I am just starting to explore MIDI Multi Track recording on the GENOS. I want to start out by Step Recording the chords and chord progressions which I can do.

However, I want to include one of the Intros (Intro 2). So, when in the Chord sections of step recording I select the Intro I want to start with e.g. Intro 2 and then and can see this listed in the events, I then input each of the chords (having first selected Main A/B etc) then playing the appropriate chord . However, when I then play it back the Intro is cut short and seems to be just a single bar length as opposed to the 2 or 4 bar length it would be if playing live.

Going back into step edit there does not seem to be any way to correct this so it is 2 or 4 bars long before the Main A (or Main B) section and chord kicks in.

Whilst I can do this by playing/recording in real time I don't then seem to be be a be able to edit the chord. Some of the pieces I want to Multi Track record include chords I struggle to play (or transition to) in real time and I was hoping step recording would be the answer.

What am I doing wrong?

Cheers

David
Now have a CVP 809 as my wife plays Piano but not Keyboard - I had to PX a Genos to buy it, Also have an SX700 - I did previously own a Tyros.

If you have a two bar intro you must allow two bars for it and then start the song on bar three.

Hi Eileeen. Thanks for reply.

Do yo know how I can do this when using STEP recording on the Chord track. I know how to do it when recoding in real time but not when STEP recording as it seems to default to 1 bar duration and I do. not know how to edit this so it extends to 2 or 4 bars as needed.

Thanks

You need to set the appropriate number of bars in the Intro. You can do it like this.

You can then use the Chord Looper recording method. That's how precise you are.

The more complex process of creating an INTRO is with a computer and XGWorks, but then you have complete control over what you do.
