T5 HD Capacity
« on: April 20, 2020, 07:23:20 AM »
Hi all, can't see this in the manuals...

Assuming I delete all data from the internal hard drive, how big IS that hard drive actually?

I'm asking because I'm starting gigging again after the lockdown and I have my songs and arrangements backed up on a memory stick.

In my experience, the less stuff you have to lug around 'on the road', the less you're likely to lose. Or get stolen.

Ergo I plan to initially save my songs etc to the stick then transfer them to the HD, thus carrying the backup stick in my gig bag.

Cheers.

Norm.

PS I have a LOT of songs saved as backing trax so I can play guitar along with the T5 playback.

500 GB (specs).Songs, arrangements etc are quite small so a USB stick should suffice for al storage needs and is also easy to backup to a PC and spare stick. USB sticks are less prone to failure than a harddisk because there are no moving parts. I've been gigging with bands, choirs etc. for some years and I alwas used a USB stick which only protrudes 3 mm fron the USB port, so it can stay in there always. And I always carry a spare USB stick with a backup on my keychain. Never lost them and never had a failure. I only use the internal harddisk for simple audio recordings, but even for that, I prefer to use my audio interface. So as far as I'm concerned, the internal disk is quite useless.

Hi Robert that's interesting, thanks!

I'll look for one of those smaller sticks, good tip.

Never had a problem with Hard Drive on Tyros 5. one thing is sure you would have a **** of a job filling it. All the things I have acquired over the years including Audio Songs Midi Songs styles registrations and other things only ever used around 35Gb.

I use a SanDisk Cruzer or SanDisk UltraFit which is very short and less prone to getting bumped and I leave it in my usb slot all the time. I have several which I use for backups.

Hey McBrown, McLoud here!

I found the very thing on Amazon. Ordered one today.

Great thing about this forum is that people like you not only comment but come up with practical tips that I wouldn't have thought of.

Cheers!

Norm.
