Hi, how do I connect the keyboard directly to a computer and output the keyboard to record the music and/or vocal into a digital audio workstation (DAW) software?

when I connected with the USB Host to my computer's DAW software, it didn't do anything. thanks for your help.

That wont work
To host is only for files copy to your pc hard disk
You have to special startup the keyboard to this mode

You need to connect audio out from keyboard  to audio in on your computer

I really thought you can directly output all from USB Host into a laptop's USB port?

Only when you have a hardware daw than goes the keyboard audio out  to the hardeware daw audio in
The sound is than free from computer rumble
the daw sends the sound truh the daw usb to the computer usb for monitoring and editing and recording

The keyboard does not send audio though the USB ports. You have to use the Lineout ports.

The type of cables you will need for a psr S/Tyros/Genos for audio recording:

Cables are really cheap.
I am not sure that you need an audio interface,although I don't know much about these stuff.
All the DAW needs is a crystal, clear sound and I thought those ports on keyboards are for this reason.

Maybe others that use their Genos with Cubase can give us their insights about what you will need for audio recording.

Very helpful...Thanks a lot.. My laptop computer do not have a Line In (it has microphone input) but my understanding is that mic input is not same as Line In.

The microphone input that computers and laptops have it is fine to record from your arranger keyboard/digital piano to the computer/laptop.

It is the little jack of the picture above and it will fit to your laptop's microphone input just fine.

Hm...wait for someone more experienced about these things to tell us if the interface is a necessity for an audio recording so to know what to buy and not to spend a lot of money.

I have seen a couple of videos that said that audio interface will be needed when a computer does not have a good sound card so there are problems in recording directly to a pc.

The sound card of a computer can transform the audio to digital and backwards which is what an audio interface also does.

So maybe that's why you had a problem with your laptop recording directly to it?

There are many other options, but I am very happy with my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, even though it is the second generation. The new one is even better. There are many models, 2i2, 2i4. 2i6 and so on. I used mine to record audio from my old keyboard, that did not have the option to record to USB. After I got my more modern keyboards I record audio on USB and import the file into Audacity. So you really don't need an audio interface just for recording.

The new S/PDIF Digital Output can be connected to compatible studio equipment or home theatre to output audio from Genos without any loss in quality.

Your computer MAY very well have a digital S/PDIF input, and therefore an audio interface may not be necessary.
