Any reason to go online with a PSR-S910
« on: March 31, 2020, 09:01:05 PM »
Hi,

Newbie wirh PSRs.

I saw that the Internet Direct Connection service for the PSR-S910 was terminated some time ago.

Is there any use or any reason to go online with a PSR-S910 now that this service has been descontinued?

Sincerely,
Dan

No :)
But there are a lot of styles you can download from PSR Tutorial and use on your 910! Enjoy it :)

It was closed because not enough people used it for purchasing styles etc. These can now be purchased through the Yamaha Music Soft Site plus many other things.

Thanks for the replies.

I understand that styles can be purchased, downloaded and transfered to the PSR-S910.

However, can this be done directly from the PSR-S910 keyboard? or must they be downloaded from a computer, tablet or cell first, then transfered to the 910?  Does the ability of the keyboard to go online still serve a purpose? IOW, can the keyboard directly access the Yamaha Music Soft Site?

Hi Dan

I still have a 910 and play it regularly, It has a very special sound that’s not been subjected to lots of FX like the newer keyboards, it can play 90% of YAMAHA styles without any problems, save the styles from you PC to a USB stick and move the USB to the 910.

You may have to re-tune some of the voices in the mixer, if you don’t know how to do this then well worth spending a bit of time to study it, look on PSR Tutorials for info. Not difficult.

Hi Dan,

no, you can NOT go to Yamaha Music Soft site (or other websites) directly from the PSR-S910. Because the special Yamaha websites for IDC were discontinued a few years ago, you can do ... nothing with the IDC (Internet Direct Connection) feature of the S910.

As with any other keyboard model, you have to download new software on your computer and then copy it to a USB stick to use it on your keyboard.

Best regards,
Chris

No you can no longer connect your keyboard to Yamaha Music soft. You have to go onto the site and make your choice purchase it and then download to your computer.
