Are you sure the plug is all the way in?

As Toril wrote, perhaps that the headphone jack that was not fully inserted.

It could also be an unwanted configuration change.

according to the Tyros 5 Reference Manual (page 128) :

On the 'Config 2' page of the 'Utility' screen, there's a 'Line Out' element:

Quote
Determines whether or not the sound is output via LINE OUT (MAIN). HEADPHONE SW: LINE OUT (MAIN) sounds normally, but is cut off when headphones are inserted to the PHONES jack. ON: Sound is output via LINE OUT (MAIN), even if headphones are connected. OFF: LINE OUT (MAIN) sound is off

There’s a setting, in Utility, which allows you to have the speakers on or off when the headphones are plugged in.

You just have to reset it.

Check you haven't plugged the T5 output jacks into the Aux out. If you have you can still hear the speakers.

Fred is right.  I no longer have a T5 and don't remember how to get to the setting but there is a setting for that will keep the speakers playing even with the headphones or speakers plugged in.
Look at the manual and there should be a reference for this.

Fred is correct in what he says so make sure you have the speakers in the off position when using head phones for practice
