tyros 5 verse the new Genos
« on: March 02, 2020, 03:08:01 AM »
I AM THINKING OF UPGRADING FROM MY PSR S-975 TO  A BETTER KEYBOARD. SHOULD I CONSIDER GOING WITH THE LATEST TYROS 5 OR THE NEW GENOS? ESPECIALLY SINCE THE GENOS IS A AROUND $6000  WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO PAY FOR A GOOD USED TYROS 5?
ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE HELPFUL.  THANKS

Genos!

PM sent on Genos -- Full Warranty & Free Shipping... not sure what you can get a T5 for.

Genos is a lot less than $6000.

For a T5, expect to pay around $3000, depending on whether it's 61-key, or 76-key.

I think you might find moving from S975 to Tyros 5 disappointing.

The overall tone is different - not sure if this is due to the new tone generator chip, or the higher number of EQ bands on S975. If you've got used to the live control knobs and arpeggio, you will miss them.

If you can afford it, go for Genos.

I would say shop around for a Genos as it is new technology and although Tyros 5 was good in its day we have moved on. Also we have had a big update to version 2 and new features have been added.
This can't happen with a Tyros 5.

Well, I have a Tyros5 and an S975. In my opinion the Tyros sounds better than the 975, but that is my subjective opinion. The Genos is the best of them all, but Tyros5 is still a very good keyboard! And you can get it for half the price. The system is the same as on the 975, not a big learning curve. Good luck deciding.

Forget the Tyros

It takes a forklift truck to pick it up. ;D
The Genos is way ahead.
To get the best out of the Genos it just takes patience
