Lordy! That's a lot of valuable info.

But I'm befuddled by the effects chain. I wanted cross tempo delay on an electric piano that already was using an amplifier effect on the effects channel and a reverb on the reverb channel. So I set the chorus effect to cross tempo delay. Then, I saved the electric piano as a user voice. Later, when I select the user electric piano, the level on the chorus channel is at the saved level, but the type of chorus changes depending on the style.
Is it true that the type of reverb and chorus is style dependent, and to choose a different reverb or chorus, you have to save the voice as a registration?
I also see something in the mixer effects menu about an effects variation, but I don't know how to get that variation.

Yes beakybird, it is indeed so that Styles and Midi files call the so-called system reverb and system chorus.
This makes sense because a ballad hall type would'nt work really for fast songs in another genre.

In such a case it makes sense FIRST to select the style and then to build the instrumentation.

Best regards, Heidrun
