InstrumentInfo.n27
« on: January 19, 2020, 05:58:05 PM »
Hello,
I made a tool:
https://www.psrtutorial.com/forum/index.php/topic,53829.0.html
..and wish to make some further tests with it.
For that reason I need Genos_InstrumentInfo.n27 file, so I could load some Genos packs into YEM for testing purpose. I am actually interested on latest (v2.0) Genos file.
If you're willing to share it with me, please send it to me via eMail.

Thank you in advance -I promise, I won't tell anyone  :-X

Just as a warning:

It is a VERY BAD idea (if not even downright stupid) to share your instrument ID !!! This is a unique identifier that links your keyboard to your Yamaha account, amongst others.

Cheers, Roland

Identifying your specific keyboard is a VERY bad idea.
Bogdan, is there another way you can test your tool? On the keyboard you have using your own instrument file?

What can happen if someone else has my keyboard ID? It does not occur to me why this is a bad idea.

Thank you for replies so far...
1."My" keyboard won't stay mine forever.. it will have more than one owner in future,
2.When purchasing expansion packs, many sellers require keyboard ID to be given to them (for a reason)

But it's ok if you feel insecure with that...

Hello Bogdan,

I didn't mean to imply anything here - I hope you didn't get me wrong. It's just not a good idea in general to share unique identifiers. They may mean nothing by itself, but are often used as a piece in a puzzle  :D

While you may have received some ID's already - why not simply ask Yamaha to send you a bunch of test ID's so you have a larger set to test your program with? I am sure the support folks would be helpful with that.

Cheers, Roland

Most People that sell packs require the ID so that they can protect the packs from being passed on and used in other keyboards without paying for them. This is there protection against there lively hoods.

ROLAND, lighten up a little bit, he’s making a program for us YAMAHA players
Easy to send a PM.

He’s not asking for your VISA card number

@ckobu
-I received what I needed -thank you very much!

As said, I understand that some are seeing n27 as some "highly important" info -even it serves the same purpose as VIN of your car. And as EileenL mentioned, I think that's the main reason for n27 existence.

Thank you all for taking time,
Bogdan

Hi Bogdan,

THANKS for every programming for the Yamaha players!

I search a tool generating the GENOS Instrument Info Version 2.x ( 2.0 or 2.1)  from a "old 1.x ID"

I have Customers without a PC .. and for the 2.x Update I had to make a lot of  Steps

1. Sending a USB Stick for Update via snail mail
2. waiting for the NEW ID (3GB Memory instead 1.8 )
3. Generating Installation Files in YEM
4. Sending USB Stick for Installation via snail mail ..

If YOU are able to give me the clue to edit the "old" 1.x ID to the new 3gb 2.x  ID
I can start with 3.  and save time and work..

thanks for reply
frank

PS: Whatever on IDS or so you need I send it, just give me a sign!
I support hundreds of TYROS/GENOS Players ... with the YAMAHA Expansion Manager (a Multi YEM System)

hi Frank,
I can understand the problem you describing.. even it's kinda hard to imagine someone without PC or alternative nowadays (friends laptop, cellphone,..).
Anyway, I'm sorry to say I can't help with that. As I don't (didn't) need Genos's n27 file that desperately, I simply thought I ask here for one. If I wouldn't get it, I would simply drop my curiosity. I'm quite sure it's possible to make n27 generator/converter, but that can be extremely time consuming and just isn't worth do dig into that -because there's actually no demand for such tool.

Best regards,
Bogdan

Hi Bogdan,

I have a question.

Did you install a Vocal Pack in your SX700 ?

If so, I would be very grateful to know where I can find/buy this pack and more important ... do you like it ? ;)

Thank you for your feedback.

Best wishes, Babette

Your Keyboard ID contains all your details and also your account of what you have purchased. Each one is registered to Yamaha and identifies who the owner is when accessing there site and purchasing
any packs.

Hi Babette,
What "vocal pack" you have in mind? I ask because I see none with that name at Yamaha web.

Hi Bogdan,

It looks like you are not familiar with vocal packs for the SX700, am I right ?
And ... maybe they do not exist for the SX700, who knows.  ;)

Hi Babette,

I probably missed that pack, because apparently (as from Yamaha web site) it only works on Tyros & Genos. Ok, among 20 voices, 4 seems to be S.A2 which can't be used on PSR keyboards. Still, you made me quite curious about other 16 voices!..  ;)

I have this pack and it is very suitable for Carpenter type songs. The styles are very good as are the Multi Pads.
